Amministrare 2.0: Venice and open source

Amministrare 2.0

Participating, sharing and cooperating are the key concepts of the web 2.0, that should represent the basis for a more efficient Public Administration, closer to citizens: Amministrare 2.0, the new project of Comune di Venezia, based on open source.

The aim is not only to make new technologies available for everybody, but also to develop at the same time a new mentality, oriented towards cooperation and fast problem-solving through knowledge-sharing. This aim can be reached through the acquisition and the use of open source platforms, the only ones able to foster active participation and sharing of information, thus creating a united social network for a Public Administration that is really integrated with citizens and their territory.

There are many features that make an integrated and remote management of the work possible. Thanks to new technologies, the work can be carried out in a much easier way.
The challenge is huge, yet fascinating: the immobility of Public Administration and the lack in communication are known to everybody. We will see if a new 2.0 mentality will be able to create “the latest generation” of Public Administration.
