Certosa island: the future, the present and history

The Vento di Venezia Yachting Centre began in 2004 on the initiative of a group of young Venetians who wanted to promote the various attractions of Venice to the nautical world – from traditional boats to regatta prototypes. But that was not all.
The philosophy of the group was that “new forms of boating for pleasure are possible” and are also likely; given the growing demand in the sector. With this in mind, Vento di Venezia took on the challenge of locating itself on an island that had been abandoned for a long time and succeeded in creating a multi-functional yachting centre there.
The Vento di Venezia Yachting Centre stretches over 5,000 square meters (both covered and open areas) and offers a range of services from mooring, maintenance and refitting to the construction of new boats in wood. Added to this are many courses in navigation and marine culture at various levels.
Onshore, the Vento di Venezia Centre has made use of the beautiful natural surroundings creating a centre to host events, meetings and any initiative that centres round Venice and its lagoon.
The programme of events at the Yachting Centre includes many aimed at yacht charters as well as a school for those who are involved with the sea professionally or with the marine environment.
