Venice International University: research center and multi-cultural university

The School of Humanities and Social Sciences
of Venice International University offers cross-disciplinary and disciplinary courses. A high-level integrative multi-cultural experience is offered to all students of the universities associated to VIU, able to move across different disciplines, with a humanistic approach, facing the contemporary challenges of this globalized world.
VIULIFE Creative Projects. Creativity and Technological innovation are considered very important in VIU: they aren’t considered as two different disciplines anymore, but as an unique approch to contemporary society, with the support of art and technological capabilities.
2005, Billboards. In order to celebrate the 10th anniversary of VIU, two Bulgarian artists Boris Missirkov and Georgi Bogdanov created photographic series of portratis, involving professors, researchers and students.
2007, Nokia Only Planet. Innovating through Empathy. A new way of narrating Italian Creativity and Contemporary Culture with videos and photos captured by mobile technologies.
2007, Venice: Islands of Creativity. An occasion to discover the hidden Venice, telling through its islands.
2008, VIUlife. Communicating a multicultural experience. The students will narrate their experience in VIU under the guide of a group of multimedia artists, Zimmerfrei.
TEDIS: Center for Studies on Technologies in Distributed Intelligence Systems
As a research and training center, TEDIS has been carrying out its research activities since 1999. A rich program of cultural events, meetings and international projects is offered by TEDIS.
The research activities are on innovation and competitiveness of enterprises, industrial districts and ICT opportunities; internationalization trends of Italian SMEs and local manufacturing systems within the scenario of global economy; creativity, design and innovation; logistics.
On the occasion of the 52nd Biennale Art Exhibition, some collateral events took place on the Island of San Servolo, titled: Mobile Journey. The focus was on the concept of mobility, expressed by arts, technologies and mobile lifestyle.
