Biennale Dance is coming soon: from 14 to 29 June, the 6th International Festival of Contemporary Dance will take place in Venice. Dancing shows, workshop, meetings and a video-installation will accompany the event.
The Festival’s title is Beauty: it will be the leit motiv and inspiration for dancers, artists, choreographers, arriving in Venice in these weeks.
Twelve performances – five of which to be world premiered –, a workshop whose results will be four new creations by young choreographers, and a video-installation visible for the whole duration of the festival.
Biennale Dance, directed by Ismael Ivo, will open on Saturday 14 with a symposium, involving dancers, choreographers, writers and journalists to talk about the beauty: it is the main theme of all occidental art, but which is its meaning nowadays?
On June, 17, the prestigious award for lifetime achievement, the Golden Lion, will be presented to the Prague-born artist Jirí Kylián, the choreographer and creative spirit of the Nederlands Dans Theater.
