Biennale Dance, Degree Zero
Dance, meeting, 20>28.06.2009
The first events of the Degree Zero project by Ismael Ivo, director of the Dance Sector of Venice Biennale, will take place from 20th to 28th June in the Arsenale venues: on show will be young performers invited to explore masters’ choreographies – from Trisha Brown and Jasmeen Godder to Pina Bausch and Robyn Orlin. Alongside these initial rehearsals, there will be the eagerly-awaited original creation by Michael Clark, born of the passion for rock music of one of the most significant dancers and choreographers on the British scene, presented as a world premiere at the Biennale and then to tour in leading European festivals.
And finally, there will be two days dedicated to an International Colloquium of Contemporary Dance to reflect on the present and future of this discipline, with artists, scholars, choreographers and critics from the sector.
