On Thursday 22, at Teatro San Gallo, Nicolao Atelier celebrates 25 years of history, cinema, theatre and music in Venice.
The adventure of a highly imaginative international costume makers’ that has brought the image of Venice to stages and screens all over the world, thanks to the fantasy of Stefano Nicolao, one of the most prolific representatives of Venetian creativity.
25 years of prestigious national and international collaborations, from Venice to Tibet at the Costume Institute of Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York.
The films Marco Polo, Farinelli, Elizabeth, and The Merchant of Venice, the operas Don Carlos at the Lyric Opera of Chicago, Madame Butterfly at the Fenice, and many others, are just a tiny part of the huge costume production of Atelier Nicolao; design, construction, production and treatment of both costumes and fabrics are based on painstaking iconographic and historical research into contemporary pictorial sources of the period, descriptions, original sections and fashion studies.
