Art, until 28.06.09

Veniceinvenice

Venice interpreted by artist Gerry Fox, in a six screen film installation at Palazzo Donà delle Rose.

Venice in Venice is a multiple vision of the city, projected on six different screens at Palazzo Donà delle Rose, located in Fondamenta Nuove. Each screen shows different, often contrasting vignettes of Venetian life, festivals and places over a cycle of eight minutes. These include the Carnival and the Doge’s Ball, the Historical Regatta, the Festival of the Salute, the Redentore, the Art Biennale, the Film Festival, the fruit and fish market of the Rialto, the industrial landscape of Marghera, the floods of December 2008, and the canals of Venice itself. The work was made over the last three years by Gerry Fox and it’s viewable until June 28, 2009.

Gerry Fox is a BAFTA and Prix Italia award winning filmmaker and artist. He has made many films about leading artists including Gilbert and George, Gerhard Richter, Claes Oldenburg, Christian Boltanski and Robert Frank.
