Piazza San Marco lights up on December 29 for Christmas 2019
Venice begins the Christmas events with splendor: Friday, November 29 at 6 PM at Gran Caffè Lavena the lighting ceremony for the Christmas lights and the Piazza San Marco tree, with the special participation of Vocal Skyline, kicks off the Christmas celebrations.
The Piazza San Marco Association and the Rey families invite Venetians to participate in an evocative moment that is even more significant this year for the Venetian community. In the Piazza in December, the events and celebrations for Christmas and New Year will be illuminated by the Christmas Tree sponsored by American Express Italia.
Independent design by Ve.NICE Stuff from December 5 to 8, 2019
The 6th edition of Ve.nice Stuff opens Thursday, December 5 at 2 PM, the highly anticipated independent event dedicated to contemporary artisanal design conceived by Kanz Architetti, which for five years has enabled the discovery of some of the most interesting productions by authors engaged in the pursuit of authentic, courageous and even experimental design. Artisanal craftsmanship “as a guarantee of sustainable production particularly applicable to complex historic centers like ours” is the protagonist of the event, which includes events and meetings with designers starting with the Opening Cocktail on December 5 at 6 PM.
Until December 8 at the Uni.s.ve headquarters at Ponte dei Pugni, it will be possible to discover and purchase design and craft products from fashion to home, from jewelry to graphics, from lighting to furnishing accessories by designers and creators, to discover, promote and enhance traditional craftsmanship reinterpreted by contemporary design. The UNISVE Workshop, now headquarters of the Venetian Plasterers’ Union, is a building of industrial architecture from the 1920s, a symbolic place of continuity between tradition and modernity.
For the first time this year Ve.NICE Stuff opens its doors to emerging designers with the YOUNG TALENTS section, a space dedicated to young designers presenting experimental projects, and among the fashion designers we will meet the Venetian sustainable fashion designer Alessandra Micolucci.

Ancóra Groggia, the new 2019/20 season of Teatrino Groggia
The new season of the Venetian theater directed by Mattia Berto with Mpg.cultura continues Friday, December 6 with the performance Spanker Machine of the Hidden Otaku on the imagery related to the world of Japanese comics and animation.
Performances for adults and children, workshops, exhibitions, special events such as the Christmas concert curated by the Giuseppe Verdi Music Academy, until the end of March 2020.
Six performances in the Ancóra piccoli section, five performances for the Ancóra grandi section, a photographic exhibition curated by Arianna Novaga Tireless with photos by Simone Franzolini, two artistic residencies and three workshops dedicated to children, teenagers and their families.
The Ancóra laboratori project, conceived and coordinated by mpg.cultura with instructors Mattia Berto, Sabina Italiano, Ketty Grunchi, Valentina Dal Mas, Silvia Piovan, Anna Arpini, includes The Emotional Body, a workshop every Tuesday afternoon for children aged 6 to 10 and teenagers aged 11 to 14. Wonder-Wonder me is the theatrical-pedagogical workshop for very young children aged 1 to 4 with their families. The Grammar of Fantasy is the workshop dedicated to families on Gianni Rodari for the centenary of the great Italian author’s birth.
