From strategic reflection on brand growth to the concrete narrative of craftsmanship
The conference Crafting Luxury Brands, curated by Upskill 4.0 – a spin-off of Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia, explores how craftsmanship, sustainability, and urban regeneration can form the foundation for a responsible and competitive growth model in the luxury sector.
The focus is on the connection with artisan work as a distinctive element for new regional brands, at a time of industry transformation that opens space for more rooted realities oriented toward authentic value.
The initiative is part of the Homo Faber Economy project by Università Ca’ Foscari with Fondazione di Venezia and Upskill 4.0 to strengthen the skills of Venice’s productive and artisan fabric, fostering innovation, sustainability, and new local business models.
A central moment of the morning is the presentation of Brand Ratio, a spin-off of Università di Padova, which proposes research on the positioning of 200 Italian brands connected to high craftsmanship. The research, presented by Prof. Marco Bettiol, is discussed with specialized financial funds, banks, communication firms, and training schools to identify strategies for enhancing artisan brands and making them competitive in the global market.
Afternoon | Le Mani Sapienti
Times: 5:00 PM (press preview), 6:00 PM (by invitation), 7:00 PM (open to the public)
Le Mani Sapienti presents at Galeries Bartoux four Venetian designers – Alessandra Micolucci, BVL Venezia, Gaiofatto, Teod’Amar – and five students from the Fashion master’s program at Università Iuav di Venezia, selected by Laura Scarpa and professor Alessandra Vaccari.
Now in its third edition and curated by Venezia da Vivere, it celebrates artisan excellence and sustainable fashion, placing sartorial fashion and contemporary design at the center, in a dialogue between technique and new aesthetic visions.
The proposed collections unite the art of making with the pursuit of innovation, explore the boundaries between bespoke manufacturing and upcycling, introducing new creative languages that engage with haute couture and the demands of contemporary life.
Le Mani Sapienti discovers and supports emerging talents capable of transforming traditional techniques into tools of aesthetic research and sustainability. Artisan work, reinterpreted by new generations, renews Italian fashion and redefines the concept of luxury.
The 2025 edition strengthens the connection between Venice and the world of high craftsmanship, with a journey that unites creativity, quality, and vision, confirming the city as an international reference for sartorial fashion.
