Homo Faber: The Journey of Life continues until September 30 on the Island of San Giorgio, while events exploring craftsmanship, fashion, economy, and tourism continue across the city with Venezia da Vivere and Homo Faber in Città, fostering a dialogue between artisanal tradition and new creative perspectives.

The The Place of Wonders Foundation presents the second edition of the Mano a Mano project for the year 2025. A cocktail reception with the master artisans of the first edition will feature the first scholarship recipients who have become artisans, showcasing projects created during the inaugural lampworking glass course.

Relight Venice: Recycling to Create Art
Workshop curated by Michela Bortolozzi in collaboration with Rio Terà dei Pensieri

Michela Bortolozzi, founder of Relight Venice, Venetian designer, and artisan, will lead the public in a collective artisanal workshop, giving new life to advertising banner fragments otherwise destined for disposal.
The group will work on the materials with innovative designs, and the result will later become a limited-edition bag collection. This initiative promotes environmental awareness and interactive art, involving the community in a collective act.
The workshop is organized in collaboration with Rio Terà dei Pensieri, a social cooperative working toward the reintegration of inmates.

Assessment and Opportunities for Homo Faber 2024: Inspirations and Convergences with the Homo Faber Economy Project

A meeting to discuss Homo Faber Economy, a project funded by the Veneto Region and promoted by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, in partnership with the Fondazione di Venezia and Upskill 4.0., aimed at regenerating the social and entrepreneurial fabric of Venice by providing Venetian artisans with managerial and technological skills.
The event will open with a conference presenting the points of contact between the Homo Faber Economy project and the Homo Faber exhibition. Alongside Professor Stefano Micelli, national and international project partners will participate, including the Coordinator of Artex, Center for Artistic and Traditional Craftsmanship of Tuscany, and a representative from Mobilier National, the French public institution dedicated to the promotion and conservation of national artistic and artisanal heritage.
Afterward, guests will have the opportunity to visit the Homo Faber exhibition.

Atelier Aperti with Venezia da Vivere through events for Homo Faber in Città
A day to discover various expressions of craftsmanship with the Venezia da Vivere community: sartorial creations, craftsmanship and design in hospitality spaces, craftsmanship as a tool for empowerment and social innovation, and craftsmanship in museum exhibitions looking toward the future.
The day will conclude with a visit to Homo Faber on the Island of San Giorgio.

Tabarrificio Zara: The Beauty of the Tabarro Through Time

The tabarro (Venetian cloak) will be the protagonist of the event organized by Tabarrificio Veneto. Founded in the 1970s by Sandro Zara, the family business has successfully reinterpreted tradition from generation to generation, blending past and present through a spirit of innovation.
The meeting will feature a demonstration and a dialogue between artisans and the public: an experiential journey to share stories to be passed down through the sophisticated techniques of high craftsmanship.

Discover all the exhibitions open during Homo Faber
Homo Faber: The Journey of Life, the international exhibition celebrating the excellence of fine craftsmanship, awaits you until September 30 at the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore for an extraordinary journey through the unique works of talented artisans from around the world.
Excellence in craftsmanship becomes the tool to celebrate the fundamental stages of life. The artistic direction is entrusted to Luca Guadagnino who, together with architect Nicolò Rosmarini, explores and develops the theme of The Journey of Life, based on an idea by Hanneli Rupert, Vice Chair of the Michelangelo Foundation. The installation they envisioned leads visitors along a path through the monumental complex of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
The Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is a non-profit institution based in Switzerland that supports contemporary master artisans worldwide to promote a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Homo Faber in Città
Venice is the place for the contemporary evolution of the arts and the exchange of creative visions: with Homo Faber in Città, from September 1 to 30, over 70 workshops throughout the city will open their doors to the public.
The second edition of Homo Faber in Città invites visitors to discover the secret addresses where Venetian artisans create objects of exquisite beauty, a rare opportunity to observe masters and young talents at work: open doors for 70 selected workshops of master artisans in Venice, the talents who are redefining craftsmanship.
Visitors can follow one of the suggested thematic itineraries in Venice, Murano, and Burano, or create their own personalized tour from one workshop to another.
Homo Faber in Città is a project presented by the Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship as part of Homo Faber: The Journey of Life.
Developed in partnership with the Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, with the support of Cartier. In collaboration with the Giorgio Cini Foundation, Confartigianato Imprese Venezia, CNA Venezia, Consorzio Promovetro Murano, The Venice Glass Week, and Venezia da Vivere.
