In Piazza San Marco there is a cultural venue that welcomes everyone: families, children, young adults, Venetians, and travelers. It is The Home of The Human Safety Net, the Procuratie. Here is the December events program.
The vaults of the Procuratie, illuminated by the twelve artistic chandeliers of Murano Illumina il Mondo (open until March 4, 2026), welcome visitors at the entrance to The Home, accessible from Corte Maruzzi. Inside, an interactive exhibition available in six languages introduces visitors to the project’s themes; the library, freely accessible, contains hundreds of volumes in five languages for adults and children; there are spaces for studying and working, and the Museum Shop is perfect for special gifts, with design objects created by NGOs and books on Venice’s history, social impact, and early childhood.
At Caffè Illy, you can take a break, from coffee to light lunch, enjoying a view of the Piazza through the oculi, openings that offer a privileged glimpse of Venetian life.

Presentation of the volumes Venice and Series 1984-2024 by Michele Alassio
Writers and journalists Giovanni Montanaro, Roberto Papetti, and Marco Pasini present two volumes published by Fortu Edizioni for the 40 years of artistic activity of Venetian photographer Michele Alassio, who will be present at the event. The volumes collect sixteen photographic series created between 1984 and 2024. The books are available for signing and subsequently at The Home’s Museum Shop.

Family workshop, concluding the active visit A Slit to Illuminate Piazza San Marco. At the end of the visit, participants will move to The Home of The Human Safety Net for the workshop, where participating families will also have the opportunity to visit the interactive exhibition A World of Potential.

Special event dedicated to schools on the occasion of Human Rights Day. MovieLab is the film series at The Home of The Human Safety Net curated by Francesco della Puppa, professor of Sociology at Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, titled Views on Reality.
The film by director M. Amin Wahidi tells the story of a Hazara refugee in Italy who becomes a successful entrepreneur, despite the countless difficulties encountered along his journey. A story of resilience, redemption, determination, and empowerment.

The Home of The Human Safety Net at the Procuratie in Piazza San Marco is a space open to everyone, with exhibitions, activities, and events dedicated to the community. Admission is free for all, with voluntary donation.
A World of Potential, the permanent exhibition at the Procuratie, is an immersive and interactive experience for all ages that invites visitors to discover their abilities and strengthen self-awareness.
A continuous program of activities and events with free admission (with voluntary donation), developed in collaboration with cultural and social organizations in the area, makes the Procuratie a vital place of encounter, dialogue, and participation.
