With Venezia da Vivere, discover the wonders of contemporary craftsmanship and the events organized on the occasion of Homo Faber in Città
Venezia da Vivere and Homo Faber in Città invite you to participate in a series of free events: master artisans and associations share stories of craftsmanship that changes lives and serves as a tool for inclusion of vulnerable groups. Design glassware interpreted by master glassmakers and tours of the furnaces in Murano. A luthier demonstrates his production techniques. Here is the program until September 22:

An open-door day with artisans and creatives to explore virtuous projects through which craftsmanship becomes a tool for resilience and inclusion of vulnerable groups, with demonstrations, testimonials, and workshops.

Different stations within La Casa di The Human Safety Net will showcase the talent and skills of several artisans. Throughout the day, workshops and talks will share stories of resilience and inclusion from the innovative organization CREA – Cantieri del Contemporaneo and the experience of the Nuovo Incanto association. The artisans Ettore Silvestri, Alessandro Macuz, Davide Vianello, Mauro Girelli, Valentina Bonafé, and Adele Stefanelli and their assistants will be joined by Paola Zoffoli, who will offer an activity inspired by her latest book Mestieri veneziani. The day’s protagonists will engage in a public discussion, introduced by the screening of Lah, storia di un incanto by Giorgio Bombieri and Bibi Bozzato, coordinated by Roberta Zanovello, Municipality of Venice, Children and Adolescents Service. The documentary tells the incredible story of Lah Dounamou and Davide Vianello, a Venetian upholsterer for three generations, who welcomed an unaccompanied foreign minor into his atelier as an apprentice, with the mediation of the Nuovo Incanto association. - 7:00 PM – 8:00 PM

Light, Art, Matter: Murano Today +Fragile

Francesca Torsello, creator of the brand +Fragile, presents GLASS A, a Murano glass tumbler blown into an iron mold.
On the occasion of Homo Faber and The Venice Glass Week, the young Venetian designer invited the masters of five furnaces to give a personal artistic interpretation of the glass she designed: Gambaro & Tagliapietra, WAVE by Roberto Beltrami, Davide Salvadore, Nicola Moretti, and Moleria Miki Glass by Michele Urban.
In the name of a fragility that characterizes the artisanal world of glass, with this project the masters express their vision of Murano today.

Luthier Guido Capitanio will present to the public the technical difficulties and know-how developed to handcraft refined instruments with exceptional acoustic qualities using various types of wood. The talented guitarist Giuseppe Ugo Mazzone will perform with two different guitars, allowing the audience to discover the expressive richness of the instruments.

Homo Faber: The Journey of Life, the international exhibition celebrating excellence in fine craftsmanship, awaits you until September 30 at Fondazione Giorgio Cini, on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, for an extraordinary journey through the unique works of talented artisans from around the world.
Fine craftsmanship becomes the instrument to celebrate the fundamental milestones of life. Artistic direction is entrusted to Luca Guadagnino who, together with architect Nicolò Rosmarini, explores and develops the theme of The Journey of Life, conceived by Hanneli Rupert, Vice President of the Michelangelo Foundation. The installation they envisioned guides visitors along a path that winds through the monumental complex of the Fondazione Giorgio Cini, on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore.
Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship is a non-profit institution based in Switzerland that supports contemporary art artisans from around the world to promote a more inclusive and sustainable future.

Homo Faber in Città
Venice is the place of contemporary evolution of the arts and the exchange of creative visions: with Homo Faber in Città from September 1 to 30, over 70 workshops throughout the city will open their doors to the public.
The second edition of Homo Faber in Città invites visitors to discover the secret addresses where Venetian artisans create objects of exquisite beauty, a rare opportunity to observe masters and young talents at work: open doors to 70 selected workshops of master artisans of Venice, the talents who are redefining craftsmanship.
Visitors can follow one of the suggested thematic itineraries in Venice, Murano, and Burano, or create their own personalized tour from one workshop to another.
Homo Faber in Città is a project presented by Michelangelo Foundation for Creativity and Craftsmanship as part of Homo Faber: The Journey of Life.
Developed in partnership with Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri Arte, with the support of Cartier. In collaboration with Fondazione Giorgio Cini, Confartigianato Imprese Venezia, CNA Venezia, Consorzio Promovetro Murano, The Venice Glass Week, and Venezia da Vivere.
