Lunardelli’s contemporary design merges with Corte di Gabriela for the Venice Fashion Week 2021 exhibition
On the occasion of Venice Fashion Week, Lunardelli Venezia, a historic wood design company, inaugurates on October 21, 2021 the exhibition of its most precious creations at the boutique hotel Corte di Gabriela.
For the first time, Lunardelli Venezia leaves its spaces between San Polo and Santa Maria Mater Domini, and dresses the interiors of Corte di Gabriela until the end of October 2021, a 19th-century residence now a 4-star Luxury Boutique Hotel and Loft just steps from the Mariano Fortuny House-Museum.
A perfect fusion of ancient and contemporary, at Corte di Gabriela the original interior elements, such as frescoes, the fireplace, wrought-iron framed windows, exposed beams, and typical Venetian flooring, are complemented by Lunardelli Venezia objects.
The Ca’ Pesaro seats, embellished with precious fabrics from Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua and inspired by the baroque diamond-point rusticated facades of the Ca’ Pesaro Museum; the Masanetta container reminiscent of the Venetian crab, designed by designer Elisabetta Mancinelli; the celebrated Carmini dried fruit holder that recalls the rigorous Renaissance geometry of the church of Santa Maria dei Carmini.

And also Piova, the lamp designed for Lunardelli Venezia by Damiano Frison that projects the play of concentric circles of rainwater as observed from the Venetian canals.
It is precisely from the strong and passionate connection to Venice with its territory and elements that Lunardelli Venezia draws ideas and forms that enrich the collection of furnishing objects and lamps.
Craftsmanship is combined with wood and other noble materials, where artisanal tradition is reinterpreted in a contemporary approach and vision with particular attention to sustainability. An interesting example is Isole, small coffee tables, also on display at Corte di Gabriela, created from the unexpected reuse of Murano glass canes.
The distinctive feature of these design objects lies not only in their minimal and elegant lines, but more in their craftsmanship, where the heart of the glass canes in different colors is concealed by an outer layer sometimes contrasting in color and effect. From the processing and firing of individual canes placed side by side in the furnace, a single slab is created with a filamentous and irregular effect like the waves of the lagoon.
The detail lies finally in the stretch: a shaped sandblasting process that allows the glass paste of the inner cane to emerge as the lands of the Venetian lagoon emerge. Here, millions of grains of sand create a compositional mask in macro mappings: we find the octagon of Poveglia or the vineyard rows of Venissa in Mazzorbo.
