From September 26 to October 2, 2022, Venice Cocktail Week brings the art of Mixology to Venice
Venice lights up once again with cocktails and events thanks to the second edition of Venice Cocktail Week: from September 26 to October 2, 2022, more than thirty venues, including hotel bars, cocktail bars, and historic cafés, pay tribute to the art of Mixology with new offerings created exclusively for the event.
An interesting list of signature cocktails to be sampled through events, tastings, masterclasses, night shifts, and themed evenings featuring the most beloved bartenders and internationally renowned guests. The event is also an opportunity to meet and learn about the world of Venetian mixology and discover spectacular Venetian locations.
Paola Mencarelli, founder of the Venetian event and the one in Florence, says: “The last edition of Venice Cocktail Week in December 2021 gave us very strong emotions. We received enormous support and participation from the entire city, which pleasantly surprised us. This year we decided to move the dates forward with the idea of involving Venice more and giving the event a different feel. During this period, seasonal facilities are in fact still active, with the possibility of using terraces and outdoor spaces. We hope to see a Venice more alive than ever within the cocktail bar circuit and in all the city entities involved.”
Waiting for VCW at Venissa
On Sunday, September 25, in Fondamenta Santa Caterina on the island of Mazzorbo, next to Burano, the Michelin-starred restaurant Venissa will host the event The Venissa Experience | Waiting for VCW.
In the quiet of the Venice lagoon, in a walled vineyard of medieval origin with a fourteenth-century bell tower, celebrations will take place while waiting for the start of Venice Cocktail Week. At the counter of the new Venissa bar, resident and guest bartenders will take turns preparing cocktails, which will be accompanied by cicchetti from the Osteria Contemporanea.
The Cocktail List will be created by Leonardo Vianello of Venissa – Il Bar, Antonio Ferrara of Aman Venice – The Bar, Lucas Kelm of Palazzina Grassi – Palazzina The Bar, Lorenzo di Cola of Palazzo Experimental – Experimental Cocktail Club, and Oleg Dobreanschi of Blue Drop on the Venice Lido.
The event is in collaboration with Altamura Distilleries, Bevande Futuriste, Distilleria Nardini 1779, Noon Distilled Gin, Ice3, Caviar Giaveri, and Emotion Bar Dj Set Leo Tolu DJ with New Jazz and Electro Swing music.
From 6 PM to 8 PM by invitation and from 8 PM to 10 PM the event is open to the public with mandatory reservation (bar@venissa.it) and cocktails for 7 euros.
The format of the Venetian Cocktail Week
Each participating location of Venice Cocktail Week has created a VCW22 Cocktail List specifically designed to showcase Venice and its traditions through four different categories:
Signature Cocktail, a freely created drink representing the cocktail bar during VCW22
RiEsco a Bere Italiano Cocktail, a drink dedicated to “Made in Italy” featuring products from exclusively Italian companies participating in the RiEsco a Bere Italiano initiative
The Midday Aperitif, a fresh and light drink ideal for the midday aperitif—a great Venetian tradition—and for all hours of the day
Leon D’Oro, a drink inspired by cinema, where the bartender can give full expression to their creativity
What’s new for 2022
VCW Experience: tours to discover cocktails among Cafés and Cocktail Bars, also by Bragozzo (fishing boat) or Topa (typical flat-bottomed boat of the Venetian lagoon), passing through Bacari, the Gardens, and the Rialto Market.
The Dining with the Spirits experience is inspired by an activity held in the Florentine edition: it is a new proposal in which a selection of Venetian restaurants, including the Michelin-starred Glam, Wisteria, and Zanze XVI, will use spirits as ingredients in their dishes, offering them within their menus or during dedicated evenings exclusively during Venice Cocktail Week.
