The Venice Glass Week 2024, from September 14 to 22, celebrates artistic glass with over 300 participants from 45 countries and exhibitions, installations, and workshops
#AWorldOfGlass: The Venice Glass Week returns to Venice for its eighth edition from September 14 to 22. Over 300 exhibitors from 45 countries, with diverse styles and techniques ranging from the most classic forms to the most experimental contemporary interpretations, will present their work in galleries, museums, boats, and unusual spaces across the city through exhibitions, workshops, and installations.
New highlights
Among the highlights of the 2024 program is the collaboration with Homo Faber, the event dedicated to fine craftsmanship, through the Venice Glass Week Tours by Select, free guided tours of Murano’s historic furnaces.
Part of the initiatives is the project On the Road 19702024 by artist Federica Marangoni, curated by Chiara Squarcina and the artist herself, in collaboration with the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia. It retraces the career of the Venetian artist through the use of glass since her debut, combining this material with experiments in different technologies and media. The installation is hosted in the Spazio Ex Conterie of the Murano Glass Museum and unfolds across five sections including works such as La bricola, a light installation created for Euro-Domus in 1971, and Go Up Ladder, a multimedia sculpture located in the museum garden. The exhibition explores the dialogue between glass and other technologies, from video to neon, which characterize the artist’s work. The exhibition will remain open until November 24.
The initiative that promises to stand out, based on an idea by Matteo Silverio of Rehub Glass and organized by the Consorzio Promovetro Murano, is the Glass Bateo: a vaporetto transformed into an art gallery to host events, workshops, and demonstrations along the canals of Venice, turning public transport into a dynamic and engaging experience.
The 2024 edition also extends to Mestre with initiatives designed for families with children: the Family Programme, in collaboration with MUVE Education, will involve children in educational and interactive activities to introduce them to the world of glass in a playful way.
