Venice Fashion Week is a cultural platform that promotes Made in Italy. See you at the next events in 2025
The 2024 edition of Venice Fashion Week has consolidated the event’s role as a cultural platform characterized by projects connecting local artisans, visual artists, designers, and businesses.
The third edition of Le Mani Sapienti at Palazzo Sagredo, dedicated to sartorial fashion, presented nine designers and three creative partners.
Alessandra Micolucci dyes her garment fabrics by hand, using plant leaves, peels, and bark from her dye garden. Her fashion is nourished by time and nature. French haute couture, Italian glamour, and British tradition for Angie Power, the independent sartorial brand by Angèle Donà dalle Rose.
Velvet is rock for Giulia Bevilacqua of BVL Venezia, who creates unique garments using velvets from the ancient Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua. A collection of silk origami dresses that enhance the beauty of the hand-made pleating created by Francesca Venuti for her brand (mine de rien).
Oriental jackets by Teod’Amar, precious unique-passepartout pieces, are the new limited edition by Norma Marzà. Marta Perissinotto presented the new Leone tablecloth collection, created by Martina Vidal Venezia in Masters of Linen flax using a Renaissance printing technique.
With her brand Curiosité Artisanale, Juliana Stolberg creates handmade paper flowers finely colored with natural dyes such as beetroot juice and coffee. The founder of ADJ Style, Ekaterina Borovkova, is a trained engineer who creates home objects made of regenerated leather and high-quality materials. Venice and its architectural details are the source of inspiration for ceramist Gaetano di Gregorio.
Ca’ Sagredo, the palace on the Grand Canal that hosted the event, was transformed into a winter garden thanks to the creativity of Nonsoloverde – Serra dei Giardini. The lighting of many precious objects to be observed in detail required the partnership of DR Light & Design. Even the toasts were designed as an expression of local creativity, thanks to Bellini Canella.
Sustainable Fashion Day at Hotel Saturnia & International brought together artisans, institutions, and hospitality industry representatives to celebrate the connection between craftsmanship, tourism, the city, and responsible production. A talk explored the intersection of sartorial tradition, conscious tourism, and the circular economy, reaffirming the key role of fashion as cultural heritage.
Regional Councilor Teresa Francesca Scatto defined the talk participants as “ambassadors of Venetian culture” and highlighted how their commitment to the craft sector represents an example of cultural continuity. “Being a small great hotel for us means serving the community,” said Marianna and Gianni Serandrei of the Venetian family that has led the hotel since 1908.
Traditional skills can be part of a sustainable future and in harmony with Venice’s historical identity: “The city needs quality tourism and events that enhance its heritage,” emphasizes Fabrizio Doria, director of Vela and Venezia Unica for the City of Venice, while Claudio Vernier, president of the Associazione Piazza San Marco, spoke of the need to “preserve a living and livable Venice.”
On this subject, the organizers of Venice Fashion Week, Lorenzo Cinotti and Laura Scarpa of Venezia da Vivere, presented Sandro Zara of Tabarrificio Veneto with The Blue Artisan award as a tribute to his commitment to the transmission of artisanal crafts to new generations and for his tenacious work in reinterpreting the tabarro. The award is a work of art in blue glass and gold, created by Pierpaolo Seguso of Seguso Vetri d’Arte.
Palazzo Venart Luxury Hotel presented the exhibition L’immagine della Città by Jacopo Ascari, curated by Lorenzo Cinotti of Venezia da Vivere for the LDC Hotels & Resorts group. The exhibition explores the urban identity of Venice, Rome, Milan, and Florence through Ascari’s works, bird’s-eye views, and fantastic maps connecting architecture and cultural memory.
Curator Lorenzo Cinotti proposed placing Jacopo’s works within wood and mosaic architectures, custom-made by two Venetian artisan companies: Lunardelli Venezia for the wooden frames, and the Orsoni Venezia 1888 furnace for the glass enamel and gold leaf mosaics that decorate them. The protective covers for the works were created by the Ramosalso tailoring studio through an upcycling process of precious fabrics. Artistic lamps by Dr. Light & Design illuminated Ascari’s representations, creating harmony between art and design.
A talk between Ascari, Matteo Ward and Alessandra Vaccari, presented the exhibition and the book Fuorimoda! Matteo Ward, CEO of WRÅD and member of Fashion Revolution Italia. The exhibition is open to the public by appointment until November 30.
An increasingly large audience is interested in discovering the world of Venetian craftsmanship: the long-awaited Atelier Aperti event involved artisan studios and workshops with aperitifs, presentations, and workshops. Participating studios recorded significant attendance, highlighting how the initiative encouraged direct and authentic interaction with the public.
New this year, cultural visits to high-end stores in San Marco and Calle Larga XXII Marzo involved the Maison Margiela, Brunello Cucinelli, Dolce & Gabbana, and Antonio Marras boutiques.
