e-Concept launches a call for ideas to imagine Venice in the future through mobility and sustainability
Venice in the Future is the first edition of the image contest launched by e-concept, a Venetian company specializing in the electrification of boating, in collaboration with Repower and The St. Regis Venice, with the partnership of Lightbox and Venezia da Vivere.
What will Venice look like in the future? Who will live there and how will the inhabitants move around? These are the questions asked by those who love Venice and dream of a sustainable future. The goal of the contest is to raise awareness, especially among young people, on essential life issues such as sustainability, electric boating, and climate change.
The invitation, open to everyone (adults) by October 10, 2022, is to present through an image – a photograph or retouched/modified photos, computer-generated graphics, or collages – their own free vision of Venice in the Future, with particular attention to the ecological evolution of the city and its water mobility.
A jury composed of: Claudio Iannelli, founder of e-concept, whom we already met in 2020 for #RiscrivereilFuturo, Mara Sartore, director of Lightbox, Sergio Pascolo, author of the book Venezia Secolo Ventuno, Jane Da Mosto, co-founder of We are here Venice, and Laura Scarpa, co-founder of Venezia da Vivere, will select the winning image from the 20 images that receive the highest score.
The award ceremony is scheduled for November 30, 2022, at The St. Regis Venice, the first hotel in Italy to be equipped with an electric charging station for boats, where the winning project will be awarded a production prize of 1,000 euros and from where, together with the author, a panoramic tour on an electric-powered boat in the Venice lagoon will depart.
e-concept
A company that designs technological products and services for sustainable innovation with a focus on system electrification in the nautical sector for a zero-emission future, founded in Venice in 2019 by Claudio Iannelli. Its goal is to combine environmental aspects with human needs, innovating and optimizing production processes to improve the quality of life while respecting the planet. The flagship patented product e-dock is a solution integrated into the mooring pole (a characteristic element of Venetian nautical mooring) providing the infrastructure necessary for public and private charging of electric boats.
Repower
Repower is among the leading Swiss operators supplying electricity and gas from renewable sources, active in the electricity sector for over 100 years and since 2002 also in Italy. Innovation is the hallmark of Repower’s approach, including energy efficiency and electric mobility with charging tools and “full electric” products.
The St. Regis Venice
Overlooking the Grand Canal, The St. Regis is the first hotel in Venice to combine its historical, artistic, and cultural heritage with the innovation of contemporary electric nautical design.
Lightbox
Mara Sartore and Matteo Bartoli are the founders of Lightbox, a Venetian agency specializing in curation, communication, and publishing for contemporary art. For ten years, it has published My Art Guides, a series of guides and newsletters to stay updated on the major contemporary art events in the world.
