What to do, which films to watch and which events not to be missed at the Venice International Film Festival – Venezia75 – after having photographed Lady Gaga<\/h2>\n

Films<\/strong>, press conferences, photocalls<\/strong>, time spent at the arrivals, more films and then cocktails<\/strong> and parties<\/strong>; this is our day, always intense and full of surprises. After having photographed Ryan Gosling, Jeff Goldblum, Cate Blanchet, Emma Stone, Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga<\/strong>, we can be satisfied with these first days at the Venice Film Festival and we are ready for our coffee. Here what to do and who is in Venice75. And the photos of our talented photojournalists and Instagramers Rossana Viola, Pietro Gallina, Cristina di Bella, Marta Formentello and Massimo Peca.<\/p>\n

Lady Gaga effect<\/h3>\n

The rain did not stop Lady Gaga who crossed the Red Carpet in a cloud of pink feathers, next to a happy Bradley Cooper, for the first time in the role of director. But the real surprise was made by the two actors to the public, going to thank, in person, all the spectators (in delirium) of the PalaBiennale<\/strong>, at the end of the official screening of \u2018A star is born<\/strong>\u2019.<\/p>\n

The movies to watch and the Stars<\/h3>\n

In the picaresque western The Sisters Brothers<\/strong> by Jacques Audiard (in competition – Sala Grande, 2nd September, 7.30 pm), Joaquin Phoenix<\/strong> (Volpi cup in 2002), Jake Gyllenhaal<\/strong> (Donnie Darko, Brokeback Mountain), Rutger Hauer<\/strong> ( Blade Runner, Lady Hawke, The Legend of the Holy Drinker) and John C Reilly are starring. The music is by Alexandre Desplat (Oscar for the Shape of Water) and the costumes by Milena Canonero.<\/p>\n

After ‘Chiamami con il tuo nome’ and being in Venice with ‘A Bigger Splash’, Oscar nominee Luca Guadagnino<\/strong> is now presenting ‘Suspiria<\/strong>‘ (in competition – Sala Grande, 1st September, 7.15 pm), with Dakota Johnson and Tilda Swinton<\/strong>, a remake of the homonymous film by Dario Argento, 1977. Part of the cast there is also Jessica Harper, the protagonist of the original 1977 film.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman David Oelhoffen returns to Venice for the second time to present Fr\u00e8res Ennemis<\/strong> (in competition – Sala Grande, 1st September, 10.15 pm) a dramatic thriller, starring Matthias Schoenaerts<\/strong> (The Danish Girl, A Bigger Splash)<\/p>\n

Julian Schnabel<\/strong> is best known for ‘Le scaphandre et le papillon’ (2007) with Emmanuelle Seigner; Before Night Falls (2000) with Johnny Depp and Javier Bardem; and Basquiat (1996) with Jeffrey Wright, Benicio del Toro, Willelm Dafoe and David Bowie. Now he is taking on screen Vincent Van Gogh’s life in Arles in At Eternity’s Gate<\/strong> (in competition – Sala Grande, 3rd September, at 7.15 pm).<\/p>\n

Van Gogh is played by Willem Dafoe<\/strong>, we have already seen him in Venice with “Pasolini” (2014). At his side Emmanuelle Seigner<\/strong> (Luna di Fiele), Oscar Isaac<\/strong> (the Poe Dameron of the new Star Wars films, seen in Venice with “Suburbicon” last year) and Mads Mikkelsen<\/strong> (Rogue One, the Star Wars spin-off) .<\/p>\n

On 5th September, Dafoe and Schnabel will receive the Mimmo Rotella Award at the Guggenheim Foundation, given to Sir Michael Caine and James Franco, among others in the past editions.<\/p>\n

\n \n \"\" <\/a>\n \n \"\" <\/a>\n \n \"\" <\/a>\n <\/div>\n<\/div>\n

Peterloo<\/strong> (in competition – Great Hall, September 1st, 4 pm) is the new film by Mike Leigh<\/strong>, English Director, winner at the Oscars for Secrets and Lies in 1996 and winner of the Golden Lion in 2004 with Vera Drake. This is the story of the massacre of Peterloo, when the British armies attacked a democratic demonstration in Manchester in 1819.<\/p>\n

In these days The Armadillo prophecy<\/strong> of Emmanuel Scaringi will also be presented (Horizons – Monday, September 3rd, Docks room, 5pm), with Simon Liberati, Peter Castellito and Laura Morante, inspired by the comics Zerocalcare<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Finally, for TV lovers, after the success of the first two episodes of “The Young Pope” series on screen two years ago, it is now time for ‘L’amica Geniale<\/strong>‘ by Saverio Costanzo (out of competition – the Great Hall, September 2nd, 5pm)<\/p>\n

Among the documentaries we can see What YouGonna Do When The World’s On Fire?<\/strong> Roberto Minervini (in competition – Great Hall, September 2nd, 2.15pm) and El Pepe, a supreme vida<\/strong> by Emir Kusturica<\/strong> (out of competition – the Great Hall, September 3rd, 2.15pm).<\/p>\n

Lovers of the past should not miss the restored version of Someone Like it Hot<\/strong> by Billy Wilder, with Tony Cutris, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe (Classic Venice – Monday 3rd September, Sala Giardino, 2.30pm).<\/p>\n

For those who are staying at the Lido, after the film screening, at Villa degli Autori<\/strong>, the “Notti Veneziane<\/strong>” are starting, a series of events on cinema and art created<\/strong> by Maurizio Di Rienzo. It opens a live performance by Federico Zampaglione of Tiromancino<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
