{"id":19298,"date":"2020-01-29T12:35:34","date_gmt":"2020-01-29T11:35:34","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.veneziadavivere.com\/?p=19298"},"modified":"2020-01-29T12:35:34","modified_gmt":"2020-01-29T11:35:34","slug":"ian-mcewan-and-eugenia-rico-at-the-incroci-di-civilta-festival","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.veneziadavivere.com\/en\/ian-mcewan-and-eugenia-rico-at-the-incroci-di-civilta-festival\/","title":{"rendered":"Ian McEwan and Eugenia Rico at the Incroci di Civilt\u00e0 Festival"},"content":{"rendered":"<div class=\"wpb-content-wrapper\" id=\"wpb-content-root\"><p>[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]<\/p>\n<div class=\"figure\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-7567\" src=\"https:\/\/www.veneziadavivere.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/04\/Incroci-di-civilt\u00e0.jpeg\" alt=\"Incroci di civilt\u00e0\" width=\"1280\" height=\"800\" \/><\/div>\n<h2>The winners of the Bauer awards Ian McEwan and Eugenia Rico open the Incroci di Civilt\u00e0 festival on Wednesday 4 April at the Goldoni Theater.<\/h2>\n<p>Twenty-five authors from all over the world will meet in Venice at the international literature festival Incroci di Civilt\u00e0. <strong>Nobel prize winners, known and emerging writers<\/strong> dialogue with each other and with the audience in an exchange of cultures and visions; a debate on current issues with testimonials from the contemporary literary arena.<\/p>\n<p>The festival opens on <strong>Wednesday 4 April at 5pm with the Bauer Prize<\/strong> award ceremony for the English writer <strong>Ian McEwan<\/strong> and the Young Bauer award ceremony for the Spanish <strong>Eugenia Rico<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Ian McEwan is the author of many novels, short stories and screenplays such as <em>Children in time<\/em>, <em>Atonement<\/em> and the most recent <em>The Children Act<\/em> and <em>Nutshell<\/em> published by Einaudi.<\/p>\n<p>Defined by Luis Sep\u00falveda as one of the most original voices in Spanish fiction, Eugenia Rico, who published the novel Gli Amanti in Italian, is one of the most innovative Spanish speaking writers in recent decades. After the Goldoni Theater she will be on <strong>Saturday 7 April at 11:45 am at the Querini Stampalia Foundation<\/strong>, where she will go into details in her novel genre, defined as interactive and European.<br \/>\nBorn in Oviedo in 1972, Eugenia Rico has chosen to live in Venice together with her family. For Eugenia Venice &#8220;is a city that transforms, a source of inspiration in the beauty of its conformation and in the density of the history it contains&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Journalist for El Pa\u00eds, she was also the first Spanish writer to be welcomed into the University of Iowa&#8217;s residence for writers and her short story <em>Waste<\/em>, published in California, was a finalist for the prestigious Pushcart Prize in the United States.
