A few weeks have gone by since Lesley Lokko\u2019s nomination as curator of the 18th International Architecture Exhibition (from May 20 to Sunday, November 26, 2023) and the protagonists of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.labiennale.org\/en\/art\/2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>59th International Art Exhibition<\/strong><\/a> have already been revealing many new features, first the earlier opening: from Saturday, <strong>April 23 to November 27, 2022<\/strong>, with a pre-opening on April 20, 21, 22, 2022. In addition, both the artistic and curatorial selection is for a good percentage made of women.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.veneziadavivere.com\/creatrici-di-futuro-le-donne-disegnano-il-contemporaneo\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><strong>Cecilia Alemani<\/strong><\/a> is the first Italian curator to be appointed to this role. She is currently the artistic director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thehighline.org\/art\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>High Line Art<\/strong><\/a> and previously she was the curator of the <strong>Italian Pavilion at the 2017 Art Biennale<\/strong>; she chose for <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.labiennale.org\/it\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">La Biennale<\/a> <\/strong> Art 2022 the title <em>The Milk of Dreams<\/em>, the same title as the book written by another woman: surrealist artist <strong>Leonora Carrington<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Cecilia explains her inspired choice: &#8220;<em>the artist describes a magical world in which life is constantly reinvented through the prism of imagination and in which one is allowed to change, transform, and become other than oneself. Her serial works in constant metamorphosis are the result of incessant research of the self in relation to the dynamics of art over time.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Argentina<\/strong><br \/>\nArtist: <a href=\"http:\/\/piedrasgaleria.com\/artista\/monica-heller\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">M\u00f3nica Heller<\/a><br \/>\nCurator: Alejo Ponce de Le\u00f3n<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Arsenale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>M\u00f3nica Heller<\/strong>&#8216;s art is developed through drawing, painting, 2D and 3D animations in an intense narration of either stories or fairy tales, where the protagonists are anthropomorphic people and objects inserted in fantastic imagination. Her work focuses on the emotional, social, and existential impact through the frequent use of images of technology as a means of interpretation and sublimation of reality.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/australiacouncil.gov.au\/advocacy-and-research\/events\/australia-at-the-venice-biennale\/venice-biennale-2022\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Australia<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArtist: Marco Fusinato<br \/>\nCurator: Alexie Glass-Kantor<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Giardini della Biennale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Marco Fusinato<\/strong> is an Australian artist and musician who combines different artistic practices: photography, installations, and music with live performances. This is his second time at the Venice Biennale: he exhibited in 2015 under the curatorship of the Nigerian art critic <strong>Okwui Enwezor<\/strong> in <em>All the World&#8217;s Futures<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Alexie Glass-Kantor<\/strong> is one of Australia&#8217;s most highly regarded curators, currently Executive Director of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.artspace.org.au\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Artspace<\/strong><\/a> in Sydney and curator of Encounters for Art Basel Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Austria<\/strong><br \/>\nArtist: Jakob Lena Knebl e Ashley Hans Scheirl<br \/>\nCurator: Karola Kraus<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Giardini della Biennale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The artists have created an enormous stage-like installation &#8211; Invitation of the <em>Soft Machine and Her Angry Body Parts<\/em> &#8211; composed of paintings, textile works, photographs, objects, sound works and videos for holograms and interactive apps. He is known for his interdisciplinary work that includes art, architecture, and social practices.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Brasil<\/strong><br \/>\nArtist: Jonathas de Andrade<br \/>\nCurators: Jacopo Crivelli Visconti and Jos\u00e9 Olympio da Veiga Pereira<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Giardini della Biennale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Jonathas De Andrade<\/strong>&#8216;s art explores modern society through memory, objects, symbols, photography, and cinema. Thus, she modifies and alters the tools and processes of calculation, generating new outcomes, invisible perceptions such as transparent materials like water or glass and phenomenological ones like air or light into possible experiences.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Denmark<\/strong><br \/>\nArtist: Uffe Isolotto<br \/>\nCurator: Jacob Lillemose<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Giardini della Biennale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Danish Pavilion at the Venice Biennale, thanks to the connection of visual artist Uffe Isolotto, will present a dramatic social-realist scenario with mythological and idyllic references.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cca.ee\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Estonia<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArtisti: Kristina Norman, Bita Razavi ed Emily Rosaly Saal<br \/>\nOrganisers: Corina L. According to the curator <strong>Beatriz Espejo<\/strong>, an important Mexican writer, teacher, and researcher, Aball\u00ec&#8217;s project stands as &#8220;<em>an intervention that disrupts memory in spatial terms, that modifies the exhibition space, its placement at the Biennale and its relationship with the city of Venice<\/em>&#8220;.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/simoneleighvenice2022.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>United States of America<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArtist: Simone Leigh<br \/>\nCurators: Jill Medvedow and Eva Respini<br \/>\nThe Pavilion is at the Giardini Della Biennale<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Brooklyn-based sculptor <strong>Simone Leigh<\/strong> devotes her <span class=\"VIiyi\" lang=\"en\"><span class=\"JLqJ4b ChMk0b C1N51c\" data-language-for-alternatives=\"en\" data-language-to-translate-into=\"it\" data-phrase-index=\"0\" data-number-of-phrases=\"5\">exhibition entirely to the United States pavilion, titled Simone Leigh: Sovereignty,<\/span><\/span> &#8220;<em>to the experiences and contributions of black women<\/em>&#8221; as co-curator <strong>Jill Medvedow<\/strong> states. Keresztes is a visual artist whose sculptures and installations feature muted colors and mosaic compositions.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Zimbabwe<\/strong><br \/>\nArtists: Wallen Mapondera, Ronald Muchatuta, Kresiah Mukwazhi and Terrence Musekiwa<br \/>\nCurator: Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Fadzai Veronica Muchemwa<\/strong> is an emerging researcher, writer and curator based in Harare, Zimbabwe.
