Natural. Artificial. Collective<\/em> and curated by Carlo Ratti, includes <strong>11 Collateral Events<\/strong> officially selected by the Curator. Promoted by national and international non-profit entities and institutions, these events take place in various venues across the city of Venice, enriching the pluralism of the main exhibition with unique contributions and perspectives.  <\/p>\n<h3>The Collateral Events<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Catalonia in Venice_Water Parliaments: Projective Ecosocial Architectures<\/strong><br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/www.llull.cat\/monografics\/waterparliaments\/ca\/prehome.cfm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Institut Ramon Llull<\/a><br \/>\nDocks Cantieri Cucchini, Castello 40\/A<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Catalan pavilion proposes a radical reflection on water as a resource, infrastructure, and political subject. At the heart of the exhibition is the transformation of space into a \u201cWater Parliament,\u201d where seven projective architectural installations\u2014ranging from data fountains to sediment saloons\u2014invite us to rethink the relationship between environment, technology, and community. <\/p>\n<p>Water is explored as an element capable of redefining boundaries, identities, and communities through ecosocial approaches and design imaginaries.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition features: a film narrating water conflicts, a vocabulary of one hundred words on the theme curated by international voices, and an online atlas collecting experiences and projects from around the world.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Deep Surfaces. Architecture to enhance the visitor experience of UNESCO sites<\/strong><br \/>\nUNESCO, Palazzo Zorzi, Castello 4930<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The exhibition <a href=\"https:\/\/www.unesco.org\/en\/articles\/deep-surfaces-architecture-enhance-visitor-experience-unesco-sites\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><em>Deep Surfaces<\/em><\/a> invites visitors to explore how architecture can enrich the visitor experience at UNESCO sites while simultaneously protecting cultural and environmental heritage.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Over 50 examples from around the world<\/strong> \u2014 completed or planned visitor centers, both new and regenerated \u2014 demonstrate how these spaces serve as tools to connect narratives, communities, and landscapes.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition is organized through illustrative panels, a \u201ccloud installation\u201d that guides the visitor with thematic color codes, multimedia content, and a library of construction materials. The layout emphasizes the collective and environmental intelligence inherent in these places, which are capable of fostering accessibility, sustainability, and social inclusion. <\/p>\n<p>A particular focus is reserved for the archaeological site of Hegra, in AlUla, Saudi Arabia, where UNESCO and the Royal Commission for AlUla are collaborating to develop an innovative interpretive plan designed to engage the public and protect the heritage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intelligens. Talent &#8211; EUmies Awards. Young Talent 2025<\/strong><br \/>\nPalazzo Mora, Cannaregio 3659<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Organized by the <a href=\"https:\/\/eumiesawards.com\/young_talent\/about-the-awards\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Fundaci\u00f3 Mies van der Rohe<\/strong><\/a>, the exhibition brings together the winning and shortlisted projects of the <strong>EUmies Young Talent<\/strong> award, established to highlight the best Master&#8217;s degree theses in architecture, urban planning, and landscape from European universities participating in the <strong>Creative Europe<\/strong> program.<\/p>\n<p>On <strong>June 19<\/strong>, the three winners and the winner of the <em>Open<\/em> section will be announced in Venice during the EUmies Awards Day, which will include public debates and the award ceremony. The installations address themes such as climate justice, spatial flexibility, and urban resilience, articulated across four conceptual axes: tactical interdependence, infrastructural flow, embedded resilience, and adaptive assembly. <\/p>\n<p>Among the most significant works: <em>Elastic Borders<\/em>, which transforms the Tainan railway project into a ritual reflection on space; <em>Climate Justice<\/em>, which denounces environmental inequalities; and <em>T\u0101i-u\u00e2n and Venice<\/em>, which creates a dialogue between the everyday architectures of two island republics.<\/p>\n<p>The pavilion also includes a collaboration with Carlo Ratti on the <em>Path of Knowledge<\/em> project and hosts the short documentary <em>Island in Between<\/em>. Collective<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Through selected installations and works, the exhibition invites reflection on the interactions between nature and technology, and how these influence our perception of space and architecture.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/2024.vbexhibitions.hk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\"><strong>Projecting Future Heritage: A Hong Kong Archive<\/strong><\/a><br \/>\nArsenale, Campo della Tana, Castello 2126<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em>Projecting Future Heritage: A Hong Kong Archive<\/em> is the official collateral event of Hong Kong, organized by the Hong Kong Institute of Architects Biennale Foundation (<strong>HKIABF<\/strong>) with the <strong>Hong Kong Arts Development Council<\/strong> as co-organizer, and the Hong Kong Institute of Architects (<strong>HKIA<\/strong>) as partner.<\/p>\n<p>The curators of the exhibition, <strong>Fai AU, Ying ZHOU, <\/strong>and<strong> Sunnie LAU<\/strong>, have structured the display into three main sections:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Archive of Overlooked Architectures<\/strong><br \/>\nAn exhibition collection within the pavilion gathers building typologies, urban spaces, and infrastructures considered obsolete and characterized by collective intelligence and sustainability, which are currently at risk of demolition and redevelopment. Emphasis is placed on natural ventilation, civic aspirations, and the potential for reuse of these buildings, offering a critical reflection on Hong Kong&#8217;s energy-intensive and high-carbon real estate policy. <\/li>\n<li><strong>Bamboo Scaffolding<\/strong><br \/>\nA bamboo structure will be constructed in the pavilion&#8217;s courtyard, showcasing a traditional Hong Kong construction technique already integrated into a circular economy. The project, titled <em>On Weaving<\/em>, celebrates the Saudi date palm by using its vegetable waste as the primary material: palm fronds and fibers replace traditional column and beam structures, creating a sustainable architecture inspired by traditional weaving techniques. <\/p>\n<p>Alongside the winning work, projects by the other finalist studios are also on display, accompanied by historical documents and images, emphasizing the contemporary value of traditional, flexible, and sustainable architectural practices.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The Fondation Cartier pour l\u2019art contemporain by Jean Nouvel<\/strong><br \/>\nFondazione Giorgio Cini, Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>An exhibition dedicated to <strong>Jean Nouvel<\/strong>&#8216;s new project for the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.fondationcartier.com\/en\/exhibitions\/international\/la-fondation-cartier-pour-lart-contemporain-par-jean-nouvel\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Fondation Cartier<\/a><\/strong>, where architecture becomes an experience and an active tool for art, science, and thought. A museum that changes shape, thanks to mobile platforms and reconfigurable spaces. <\/p>\n<p>On display: a scaled sectional model, life-size photographs, floor plans, videos, and prototypes of a building \u2014 a 19th-century palace in Place du Palais-Royal \u2014 designed to transform, adapt, and breathe. An exhibition that brings together two research initiatives \u2014 <em>Planetary Sapience<\/em> by <strong>Antikythera<\/strong> and <em>Climate Work: Un\/Worlding the Planet<\/em> from the <strong>MIT Department of Architecture<\/strong> \u2014 to address one question: &#8220;<em>How can we rethink the future of the Earth and the role of architecture in shaping it?<\/em>&#8220;. <\/p>\n<p>Along the path, immersive installations, historical artifacts, and forty visionary projects from the MIT architecture faculty articulate a reflection that links computational intelligence, environmental crisis, and cosmology to imagine new design practices related to sustainability. Meanwhile, Antikythera proposes a reading of the planet as an evolving megastructure. <\/p>\n<p>The objective is clear: to question the visitor on the environmental impact of architectural choices and the transformative potential of technology.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>The SKYWALK by Platform Earth<\/strong><br \/>\nOcean Space, Campo San Lorenzo, Castello 5069<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/platformearth.org\/earth\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener nofollow\">Platform Earth<\/a> exhibition at the 2025 Biennale focuses directly on one theme: the Venice lagoon as a living and fragile system.<\/p>\n<p>The project develops along two operational lines: <em>Skywalk<\/em>, an elevated infrastructure designed to make the salt marsh landscapes accessible, and <em>La Laguna Marine Park<\/em>, a natural park intended to restore compromised habitats.<\/p>\n<p>The exhibition combines architecture, environmental engineering, scientific research, and art to build a vision-proposal of replicable intervention models. Inspired by the vitality of plankton, the project showcases microorganisms as a metaphor for interconnection. Sculptures, installations, and visual experiments reveal the fragility and strength of life on an infinitesimal scale, suggesting how small parts can generate large dynamics.  <\/p>\n<p>Curated by <strong>Claudia Schnugg<\/strong>, the exhibition is a journey through art, architecture, and science, featuring works by international artists who creatively interpret the theme of living in space. Augmented reality, holographic projections, and multimedia installations dialogue with models of sustainable space architectures, created in collaboration with scientists and specialists. <\/p>\n<p>The event, the result of a collaboration between <strong>Astronautin GmbH<\/strong> and <strong>Fondazione EFESTO<\/strong>, is accompanied by thematic meetings, science fiction workshops, and performances exploring issues such as space food, the responsible use of resources, and the psychological challenges of living in extreme environments. A pavilion that makes us reflect on the deep connections between life in space and the challenges we face daily on Earth. <\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><em><strong>SMAC \u2013 San Marco Art Center<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em>Procuratie, Piazza San Marco 105<br \/>\nOpen Wednesday to Monday from 10 AM to 6 PM (closed Tuesday)<em><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The new space for visual arts<\/strong> <strong>in Piazza San Marco<\/strong> opens on May 9, located on the second floor of the Procuratie Vecchie, restored by the Milanese studio of David Chipperfield.<\/p>\n<p>The project, founded by <strong>Anna Bursaux<\/strong>, <strong>David Gramazio<\/strong>, and <strong>David Hrankovic<\/strong>, was created with the aim of moving beyond traditional museum models.<\/p>\n<p>The approach is open to collaboration with artists, curators, institutions, and local and international communities, with a program that includes two to four exhibitions per year.<\/p>\n<p>Two exhibitions will be on view at the opening: <em>Migrating Modernism. The Architecture of Harry Seidler<\/em> and <em>For All That Breathes on Earth.
