A project for Homo Faber in Città and The Venice Glass Week.

Glass is one of the driving forces of Venice’s productive fabric. With its delicate balance between fragility and strength, it faces the challenges of an evolving world amidst technological innovation and economic pressures. The allure of craftsmanship remains intact, and it is precisely the new generations of artisans who choose to carry forward a tradition that continues to find space and relevance.

It is in this context that the +Fragile project was born, conceived by Francesca Torsello, a young Venetian designer who tells the story of today’s Murano through her own contemporary vision and that of five master glassmakers from prominent Murano furnaces—Gambaro & Tagliapietra, WAVE by Roberto Beltrami, Davide Salvadore, Nicola Moretti, and Moleria Miki Glass by Gabriel Urban—who were called upon to reinterpret GLASS A, a Murano glass tumbler blown into a fixed iron mold. The masters accepted the challenge of working with the same mold, demonstrating how truly diverse creations can emerge from a single starting point.

The choice to work on an object as simple as a glass tumbler becomes an act of profound respect for tradition and a challenge toward new forms of expression. GLASS A thus becomes a symbol of collaboration between artisans and designers, and a reflection on the present and future of Murano.

In the interviews conducted by Francesca, the masters express their vision of Murano today. They can be read until September 22 alongside each glass in the exhibition at MEG Glass Boutique in Calle delle Ostreghe, San Marco 2357. The project is part of the Venice Glass Week events and on the occasion of Homo Faber in Città.

The exhibition is open to the public from 10 AM to 7 PM.
