For its tenth anniversary, Fashion Revolution Italy inaugurates the Fashion Revolution Tour in Venice on Tuesday, April 23: a cultural itinerary to discover fashion sustainability through the expertise of contemporary artisans and designers<\/h2>\n

Fashion Revolution Italy is 10 years old: founded in 2014, it has become the world’s first ethical fashion movement<\/strong>. With campaigns aimed at restoring dignity to the people who create our clothes<\/strong>, it has successfully created a network of 434 partners worldwide and reaches more than 500 million people every year through social media channels. <\/p>\n

To celebrate ten years of activity, the Italian Fashion Revolution team, coordinated by Marina Spadafora<\/strong>, chooses Venice to spread new awareness for the ethical and responsible evolution of the fashion sector, and presents the Fashion Revolution Tour<\/a>, a cultural itinerary open to the public.<\/p>\n

The project, created in collaboration with Venezia da Vivere<\/strong>, Iuav University of Venice<\/strong>, and Sara Sozzani Maino<\/strong>, is sponsored by the City of Venice<\/strong> and is part of the Venice Fashion Week<\/strong> program.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe wanted to begin the second chapter of Fashion Revolution’s history in one of the world’s historic textile capitals, Venice, a port of arrival and dissemination of culture that has influenced the fashion system over the centuries<\/em>,\u201d says Marina Spadafora<\/strong>, Country Coordinator and President of Fashion Revolution Italy. \u201cToday more than ever, given contemporary challenges, it is essential to spread a new vision for the industry, which looks to the past to project itself into the future<\/em>.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n

Fashion Revolution Tour is a cultural journey in stages through the Venetian calli, created to showcase responsible design principles through the work of the city’s historic artisans in dialogue with a selected group of contemporary designers<\/strong>. Each stage corresponds to a workshop that will host the works of one or more designers. The common thread between the diverse forms of the parties involved is the design culture and the ethical principles that inform the creative and production process, shared with visitors to inspire a different interpretation of our clothes and their real value. <\/p>\n

\u201cVenice is an ideal city in which to live and create, and we are committed to promoting craftsmanship as a value for the future of the planet<\/em>,\u201d says Laura Scarpa<\/strong>, founder with Lorenzo Cinotti<\/strong> of Venezia da Vivere and Venice Fashion Week. \u201cThe artisan creates works that last, reducing consumption. In this project, which connects traditional talent with a contemporary designer, the exchange of know-how breaks the boundaries of both professions to create something new<\/em>.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cVenice is also home to a renewed educational offering in fashion, with a growing commitment from the Iuav University of Venice to propose new paths that harmonize creativity, environmental and cultural sustainability, well-being, and social responsibility<\/em>,\u201d says Alessandra Vaccari<\/strong>, professor and IUAV representative for the Master’s Degree in Fashion.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis is an extraordinary opportunity to reaffirm Venice’s central role in the international trajectories that define sustainability. And it is no coincidence that in Venice, at IUAV, the three-year curricula in Fashion Design and in Fashion Communication and New Media represent central places for reflection on contemporary forms of sustainable action, through a focus on fashion design understood as a virtuous intersection between conceptual actions and gestures that trace the DNA of Italian expertise in the artisanal dimension. Professors and students together build an environment that questions the meaning of sustainable practice today, bringing together teaching and research<\/em>,\u201d says Gabriele Monti<\/strong>, associate professor in Fashion Design and coordinator of the three-year degree in Fashion Design and Multimedia Arts at the Venetian university.<\/p>\n

The day of April 23<\/h3>\n

The opening day begins with a talk by Marina Spadafora<\/strong> (Fashion Revolution Italy<\/a>) with the participation of Orsola de Castro<\/strong>, co-founder of Fashion Revolution, and the partners who contributed to the project: Laura Scarpa<\/strong> (Venezia da Vivere and Venice Fashion Week<\/a>), Sara Sozzani Maino<\/strong> (Fondazione Sozzani<\/a>), Matteo Ward<\/strong> (Fashion Revolution Italy and WR\u00c5D<\/a>), and Alessandra Vaccari<\/strong> (IUAV<\/a> University of Venice). <\/p>\n

The \u2018Fashion Revolution Tour\u2019 talk will begin at 2 PM and will be held at the Royal Gardens<\/strong><\/a> in Piazza San Marco. It is open to the public<\/strong>; seats are limited. Those who wish to participate in the talk can book at this LINK<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

At the end of the talk, THE TOUR WILL DEPART FROM THE ROYAL GARDENS<\/strong> AROUND 3:30 PM.<\/p>\n

The itinerary includes 6 stages<\/h3>\n

From the Royal Gardens of Piazza San Marco, a historic meeting place in the city recently redeveloped and reopened to the public by the Venice Gardens Foundation<\/strong><\/a>, we will set off around 3:30 PM with a digital map<\/a> to discover the designers and workshops of the Fashion Revolution Tour.<\/p>\n

We will meet the brand Dennj<\/strong> in the workshop of Daniele and Stefano Attombri<\/strong>; Lessico Familiare<\/strong> will be welcomed by Alessandra De Franza, creator of the seaweed yarn Tabinotabi<\/strong>; designer Felipe Fiallo<\/strong> with his innovative sneakers will be the guest of Demis Marin, the tailor of the upcycling fashion atelier Ramosalso<\/strong>; the colorful upcycled clothes of designer Marcello Pipitone<\/strong> will blend with the creative graphics made with movable type from the historic printing house Venezia Stampa<\/strong>; the artisanal fashion projects of Sanaz Nataj Couture<\/strong> and Made for a Woman<\/strong> will be paired with wood and glass works in the Lunardelli Venezia<\/strong> carpentry workshop; the brand Cavia<\/strong> will be exhibited by Paperoowl<\/strong>, where the host Stefania Giannici<\/strong>, a paper artisan, will invite all participants to create a work of art as a good omen for the planet.<\/p>\n

At the end, we will all toast together with wines from Fiorotto 1934<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Part of the itinerary, which will be open to visitors until April 29<\/strong>, will also be Palazzo Mora, which will host the work Hope Dress<\/em> by Elaine Foster-Gandey<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The tour is free and open to all<\/strong>, and will depart from the Royal Gardens at the end of the talk.<\/p>\n
