Rewriting the future of Venice: the open debate that Venezia da Vivere and Associazione Piazza San Marco have created for the city’s rebirth continues.<\/h2>\n

The debate for the city’s rebirth<\/a> intensifies: Luca Massimo Barbero<\/strong>, Director of the Art History Institute of the Fondazione Cini, Francesca Barbini<\/strong>, FAI Delegation of Venice, Gianpaolo Scarante<\/strong>, President of the Ateneo Veneto, Lorenza Lain<\/strong>, Ca’ Sagredo Hotel and Associazione Veneziana Albergatori, and Alberto Olivetti<\/strong>, Hotel Dragomanni and President of Consorzio Concave, have envisioned the future of Venice with creativity and great love for city life. <\/p>\n

All participants suggest the creation of alternative economies to tourism<\/strong>, incentives for residency<\/strong>, new visions and ideas from those who will come, and the strengthening of technical competencies within the political class<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Significant participation also from citizens<\/strong>, who were asked the question How do you want to #RewriteTheFuture<\/a> of Venice?<\/strong> through social networks: numerous suggestions about the Venice that citizens hope to <\/strong>experience in the near future<\/strong> have been received.<\/p>\n

Ideas, visions, and suggestions will be published over time and compiled into a special infographic at the end of the project.<\/p>\n

Luca Massimo Barbero<\/strong>: “We must repopulate Venice; this has been discussed for decades. We cannot simply be custodians of the city\u2014it must return to what it originally was: a place to live and work, not only in the tourism sector.”

The interviews are online<\/strong><\/a> on the websites and social media profiles of Associazione Piazza San Marco<\/a> and Venezia da Vivere. These and several others that will be published throughout May<\/strong> and beyond will become the guidelines for an upcoming international online conference, and will chronicle Venice’s rebirth day by day<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
