The Ca’ Corniani estate is at the heart of a development project that combines agriculture, art, and culture. The agricultural enterprise has been transformed into a large multifunctional center, thanks to the creation of a network of hiking trails, a series of landscape works, and the establishment of museum spaces. <\/h2>\n

Thanks to the significant conservation restoration, Ca’ Corniani<\/strong> has been made available to the community<\/strong>, giving everyone the opportunity to experience the countryside as a place of social and cultural gathering<\/strong>.
\nThe initiative is part of the vision of Valore Cultura<\/strong>, the program of Generali Italia<\/strong> launched in 2016 with the objective of making art and culture accessible to an increasingly broad audience<\/strong>.
\nThe 1,770 hectares<\/strong> are thus opened to the local community<\/strong> and to tourism through the development of new landscape infrastructure and enhancement interventions such as a photographic exhibition<\/strong>, multimedia installations<\/strong>, and site-specific works<\/strong> by Garutti<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

In line with these principles, the landscape redevelopment project<\/strong> by architect Andreas Kipar<\/strong> of Studio Land<\/strong> was developed, which since 2017 has succeeded in creating an environment where culture, history, and territory speak the same language.<\/p>\n

Ca’ Corniani, Land of Innovation<\/strong>, owned by the Genagricola Group<\/strong>, with its 1,770 hectares divided between arable crop production, viticulture, and renewable energy, protected by the waters of the Livenza near Caorle<\/strong>, is the largest agricultural enterprise of Genagricola, which through the use of modern technologies in agriculture aims for increasingly sustainable agriculture<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On June 25, the development project was presented to the press and authorities, and Ca’ Corniani opened to the community.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Within the estate, it is possible to visit the historic cellar<\/strong> recently renovated and retrace its history through the viewing of three videos.
\nThe cellar represents a perfect combination of architectural innovation<\/strong> and respect for the territory<\/strong>. Due to its position below sea level, it was not possible to create an underground environment; therefore, it was decided to create chimneys capable of capturing the cool breezes and achieving a microclimate suitable for wine production. <\/p>\n

Inside the cellar, a permanent photographic exhibition<\/strong> curated by Alinari<\/strong> on the history of Ca’ Corniani has been created. The exhibition is the result of significant research within the historical archives of Genagricola and Assicurazioni Generali and in private collections commissioned for the restoration project. The exhibition thus pays tribute to what was the vibrant life of the estate: the community that resided there, made up of people, children, and the fruits of their labor. <\/p>\n

As in the past, the pumping station<\/strong> is the true protagonist of Ca’ Corniani, an architectural work that enabled the transformation from marshland to arable land. Through the Ca’ Corniani APP<\/strong>, it is possible to access it: inside, a multimedia exhibition has been set up to retrace the land reclamation process, and the operation of the pumps still present is explained. <\/p>\n

During the summer months of July and August, the estate comes alive with theatrical<\/strong> and film<\/strong> festivals in the estate’s historic gathering places.<\/p>\n

For outdoor sports enthusiasts, it is possible to rent bicycles at the bike station and follow some of the cycling and pedestrian paths that are part of the 32 kilometers of equipped trails<\/strong> bordered by pollinator strips. Currently, the first 10 km are available. <\/p>\n

The History<\/h2>\n

In 1851, Assicurazioni Generali<\/strong> purchased the estate from the Corniani family<\/strong> and began the first comprehensive land reclamation work ever carried out on behalf of a private entity in Italian history<\/strong>.
\nCa’ Corniani thus became a place rich in employment opportunities, with excellent healthcare services and training courses. In those years, it came to host a thriving agricultural community that reached 3,000 people<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

“Artistic Competition for the Three Thresholds”<\/h2>\n

On the occasion of the redevelopment project, the “Artistic Competition for the Three Thresholds”<\/strong> was announced to create site-specific works capable of marking the entrance to Ca’ Corniani and welcoming visitors. The winner of the competition was Milan-based artist Alberto Garutti<\/strong>.
\n“These are three works deliberately different in physical form because they were designed in relation to specific pieces of the landscape, but they are united by a single conceptual and methodological approach. The works were conceived as dense nodes, figure-architectures in which social history, landscape, and present meet,” the artist declared.<\/p>\n

The North Threshold<\/strong> is characterized by an old abandoned farmhouse embellished with a golden roof. The covering is designed to reflect sunlight and create highly original plays of light capable of enhancing the building located near the border with Ca’ Cottoni, one of the most sentimentally symbolic places of the estate. The work once again confirms Genagricola’s intention to look to the future while remaining firmly rooted in the past. <\/p>\n

The entrance to the East Threshold<\/strong> is recognizable by the majestic metal structure that towers over the fields. The inscription reads: “These lights will vibrate when lightning strikes in Italy during storms. This work is dedicated to those who, passing by here, will think of the sky.” The light intensity will be connected to CESI (Italian Experimental Electrotechnical Center) and will increase every time lightning strikes on Italian territory. <\/p>\n

The West Threshold<\/strong> is governed by the watchful gaze of five sculptural works of horses and dogs guarding the nearby farmstead.
\n“Three manifesto-works in which art serves the community and the landscape, in which the work is activated between nature and people to produce a new fabric of gazes and relationships; in which each Threshold speaks of Ca’ Corniani, of its present, and imagines its future,” Garutti declared.<\/p>\n
