Art, fashion, culture: from Kiefer, Weiss, and Dumas to Venice Fashion Week and the opening of Palazzo Fortuny, the vibrant preview of major events in Venice. Venice <\/h2>\n

Awaiting the major events of April with the Biennale Arte<\/a><\/strong>, Homo Faber<\/a><\/strong>, the opening to the public for the first time in 500 years of the Procuratie<\/b> Vecchie, the openings<\/b> of the artisan workshops Atelier Aperti<\/strong><\/a>, and much more, here are the appointments for March 2022. <\/p>\n

Plessi at the Magazzini del Sale<\/h3>\n

Leading the way for the Venice Spring<\/strong><\/a> is the exhibition Plessi. Trilogy <\/em>at Magazzino 3<\/strong> at the Zattere, open to the public until April 3, 2022<\/strong>. The exhibition by the Venice Academy of Fine Arts celebrates the pioneer of Italian video art, Fabrizio Plessi<\/strong>, and his collaboration with director and choreographer Fr\u00e9d\u00e9ric<\/strong> Flamand<\/b> for the shows The Fall of Icarus<\/em> (1989), Titanic<\/em> (1992), and Ex-Machina<\/em> (1994). <\/p>\n

The tribute to the Master was initiated by the curators and professors of the School of Scenography and Stagecraft of the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, Lorenzo Cut\u00f9li <\/strong>and Nicola Bruschi<\/strong>, and is accompanied by the exhibition Plessi. Academic Drawings <\/strong>in the Anatomy Rooms of the Academy, featuring works by the artist when he was a student at the Academy of Fine Arts.<\/p>\n

Palazzo Fortuny Reopens<\/h3>\n

Wednesday, March 9, 2022<\/strong> sees the reopening of Palazzo Pesaro degli Orfei, better known as Palazzo Fortuny<\/a><\/strong>, the spectacular Venetian Gothic residence that belonged to the creative genius Mariano Fortuny y Madrazo<\/strong> and his wife, who was his muse and artistic partner, Henriette Nigrin<\/b>.<\/p>\n

The restoration and redesign of the artist’s house-atelier is the result of the genius of master Pier Luigi Pizzi<\/strong> with Gabriella Belli <\/strong>and Chiara Squarcina<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Accessible year-round with a permanent itinerary and as an exhibition venue for contemporary art, the palace is open free of charge to the public on Saturday, March 12 and Sunday, March 13, 2022<\/strong> from 10 AM to 5 PM, by booking on the MUVE<\/a><\/strong> website.<\/p>\n

La Fenice for Venetians<\/h3>\n

During the week from March 10 to 17, 2022<\/strong>, the Teatro La Fenice<\/strong><\/a> is promoting its performances with reduced ticket prices for residents<\/strong>. From 10 to 25 euros for four operas: I lombardi alla prima crociata<\/em> by Giuseppe Verdi, La Griselda<\/em> by Antonio Vivaldi, Scipione nelle Spagne<\/em> by Antonio Caldara, and Peter Grimes<\/em> by Benjamin Britten. <\/p>\n

Sabine Weiss at the Casa dei Tre Oci<\/h3>\n

Curated by Virginie Chardin<\/strong>, The Poetry of the Instant<\/em> opens on March 11 <\/strong>(until October 23, 2022) at the Casa dei Tre Oci<\/strong><\/a>. It is the largest retrospective ever realized\u2014featuring more than 200 photographs, some previously unpublished\u2014on the Franco-Swiss photographer Sabine Weiss<\/strong>, who passed away just days before the end of 2021. <\/p>\n

The Electronic Music of Nu Fest<\/h3>\n

Electronic and experimental music from Saturday, March 19 to Saturday, May 7<\/strong> in art spaces with Nu Fest<\/em><\/a><\/strong>, the festival of electronic and contemporary music in collaboration with VenetoJazz<\/strong><\/a>. The poetry and experimental rock of Anne-James Chaton <\/strong>and Andy Moor<\/strong>, the folk jazz of Erlend Apneseth<\/strong>, and the sonic and visual explorations of Franck Vigroux <\/strong>meet in a free-entry program (reservation required) across three evenings: at the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi<\/a> <\/strong>and at T Fondaco dei Tedeschi<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n

Kiefer at the Doge’s Palace<\/h3>\n

\u201cThese writings, when they are burned, will finally cast a little light<\/em>\u201d. With the words of the Venetian philosopher Andrea Emo, Anselm Kiefer<\/strong> brings his artistic gesture to Venice from March 26 to October 29, 2022<\/strong>: a cycle of paintings created for the Doge’s Palace<\/strong> during 2020 and 2021. <\/p>\n

In the unique space of the Sala dello Scrutinio<\/strong>, Kiefer dialogues with the thirty-three monumental canvases on the ceiling and with the heroic significance of the entire decorative cycle of the Palace. In this instance, Venice is at the center of a research project, commissioning one of the greatest living artists to reflect on the role of contemporary art in addressing universal themes. <\/p>\n

Marlene Dumas at Palazzo Grassi<\/h3>\n

At Palazzo Grassi<\/strong><\/a>, preparations are underway for the installation of Open-End,<\/em> the monographic exhibition of South African artist Marlene Dumas<\/strong>, which will open to the public on Sunday, March 27, 2022<\/strong> and run until January 8, 2023.<\/p>\n

The exhibition, part of the program dedicated to major contemporary artists, is curated by Caroline Bourgeois<\/strong> and the artist herself, and features more than 100 works including paintings and drawings, some previously unseen, from 1984 to the present.<\/p>\n

Continuing at Punta della Dogana<\/strong> until November 27, 2022, is the exhibition Bruce Nauman: Contrapposto Studies<\/em> by one of the fathers of performance art. Watch our Instagram Stories<\/a>. <\/p>\n

March is Venice Fashion Week<\/b><\/h3>\n

Venice Fashion Week 2022<\/strong><\/a> – Spring Edition: from March 23 to 26<\/strong>, fashion is in Venice with the event that highlights and promotes emerging talents and Venetian craftsmanship.<\/p>\n

The future is artisanal<\/strong>: under the patronage of the City of Venice <\/strong>and Homo Faber<\/strong>, and dedicated to craftsmanship, sustainability, and high fashion, Venice Fashion Week is a contemporary narrative of the m\u00e9tier d\u2019art<\/em>. The opening event will be in the splendid Music Room of Palazzo Sagredo<\/strong><\/a> on Wednesday, March 23<\/strong> with fashion designers and experts in craftsmanship<\/strong> and sustainable fashion<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The first fashion show of Venice Fashion Week is just steps away from Palazzo Fortuny<\/strong> and is dedicated to the woman who designed the Delphos<\/em> gown: Henriette Nigrin<\/strong>, wife and muse of Mariano Fortuny<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

On the historic Terrace of the Hotel Bonvecchiati<\/strong><\/a>, the evening gowns of the brand Mine de Rien<\/strong> by designer Francesca Venuti bring the concept of handmade pleating into the future with unique volumes and geometries.<\/p>\n

Thursday, March 24<\/strong> Venice Fashion Week is at the Boutique Hotel Corte di Gabriela<\/strong><\/a>, a nineteenth-century Venetian palace, for an appointment with the sartorial fashion of Atelier23<\/strong> and MyssDuval<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Friday, March 25 <\/strong>Palazzo Sagredo and Venezia da Vivere present Being Luisa<\/em><\/strong>, the collection created by Finnish designer Jasmin Santanen<\/b><\/a> and Atelier Martina Vidal<\/b><\/a>, guardian of the art of Burano Lace<\/strong>. Dedicated to Marchesa Luisa Casati<\/strong>, the collection will be on display from Saturday, March 26 until April 5, 2022<\/strong> at the Magazzino Gallery of Palazzo Polignac<\/a><\/b>. <\/p>\n

The project is under the patronage of the Embassy of Finland in Italy<\/strong> and lays the foundation for a collaboration on the themes of fashion, craftsmanship, and sustainability.<\/p>\n

#DorsoduroMuseumMile are the museums of the art mile<\/h3>\n

Gallerie dell\u2019Accademia<\/strong><\/a>, Galleria di Palazzo Cini<\/strong><\/a>, Peggy Guggenheim Collection<\/strong><\/a>, and Palazzo Grassi \u2013 Punta della Dogana<\/strong><\/a> renew their collaboration on the Dorsoduro Museum Mile<\/em><\/strong> project, born in 2015, offering the possibility to visit major scheduled exhibitions and permanent collections with discounted package tickets.<\/p>\n
