It is the place where works still in development can find financing, co-producers, distributors, technical partners, and access to international markets. It is here that one fully understands the productive role of the Festival, which welcomes and presents films destined for theaters while, at the same time, helping to create the conditions for new works to be realized.

Cinema Before the Film

A film is born long before it reaches the screen. It starts from an idea, a book, a screenplay, or artistic research. It needs financial resources, expertise, technologies, relationships, and distribution channels.

The Venice Production Bridge follows this chain at different stages. It connects producers with public and private funds, co-producers, distributors, sales agents, broadcasters, streaming platforms, publishers, post-production companies, and visual effects experts, with the aim of turning professional meetings into financing, co-production agreements, rights acquisitions, and distribution opportunities.

The programme takes place on the third floor of Hotel Excelsior on the Lido.

Activities dedicated to new forms of immersive storytelling take place on the island of Lazzaretto Vecchio, as part of Venice Immersive.

<a title="Professional meetings at the Venice Production Bridge. They are fiction features, documentaries, animated films, and immersive projects that have reached the final stages of development and fundraising. Through thirty-minute one-on-one meetings, producers and directors will be able to engage with decision-making professionals: financiers, distributors, sales agents, funds, broadcasters, platforms, and post-production companies. The value of the market lies in the precision of the meetings. Each project is presented to the people who can contribute to its realization, financial completion, or international circulation. In 2026, the countries at the center of the VPB Focuses will be Greece and Switzerland, with dedicated insights into their respective production systems and collaboration opportunities.

From Books to Images

The Book Adaptation Rights Market, scheduled from September 4 to 6, brings international publishing houses and literary agencies to the Lido. Up to thirty publishing entities, in addition to those invited as part of the VPB Focuses, will present their catalogues to film producers. Novels, essays, biographies, short stories, comics, graphic novels, and children’s books can thus become the starting point for films and series.

Final Cut in Venice Supports Films Yet to Be Completed

<a title="Final Cut in Venice, Hotel Excelsior. Six works, to which are added those invited as part of the VPB Focuses, are shown before final editing to producers, buyers, distributors, and festival programmers.

Support can take the form of financial awards or services necessary to complete the film, such as editing and sound mixing, color correction, and subtitling. Final Cut in Venice makes visible an essential part of film work: the delicate passage between a work already shot and a film ready to reach audiences.

The New Locations Market: VPB Locations Market

The choice of a city, a landscape, or a studio also enters the industrial process of cinema: Venice knows well that every set involves professionals, businesses, services, and territories capable of hosting a production.

Among the 2026 novelties is the first edition of the VPB Locations Market, scheduled for September 7 and 8. Film commissions, film studios, production facilities, and service providers will present locations, financial incentives, and opportunities offered by different territories.

Venice and New Immersive Languages

The Venice Production Bridge also includes the Venice Immersive Market, hosted at Lazzaretto Vecchio at Venice Immersive. Here, artists, producers, developers, funds, technology companies, and firms working with virtual reality, mixed reality, digital worlds, and interactive experiences meet.

In 2026, Venice Immersive celebrates ten years and presents 68 projects from 26 countries. If artistic experimentation is accompanied by the building of skills, tools, economic models, and professional networks, the programme confirms the ability of Biennale Cinema to recognize new languages and to build an international production system around them.

Venice Is a Productive City

The Venice Production Bridge helps to read the Film Festival from a broader perspective. Films come to Venice to be presented and judged. Many projects come to Venice to find the resources necessary to exist. During these days, the city is a workplace for thousands of professionals. Stories meet capital, books meet cinema, immersive projects dialogue with technologies, and territories present themselves as production spaces.

This is the Venice we are interested in telling about: a city in which the world meets, develops projects, and produces contemporary culture.

Venice Production Bridge 2026, September 3 to 9, Hotel Excelsior and Lazzaretto Vecchio Island, Lido di Venezia

The programme and access procedures are available on the Venice Production Bridge website and on the official pages of La Biennale di Venezia.

Article by Laura Scarpa, photos courtesy La Biennale di Venezia.

From September 3 to 9, 2026, the Venice Production Bridge brings together producers, financiers, publishers, distributors, and international professionals engaged in developing the films of the future at the Lido.

[146,84
255,254
post-46390","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","category-biennale","category-news","tag-in-primo-piano","tag-tutti-gli-eventi","entry
["GET
