Elegant venue for concerts, readings, cultural meetings and private events, the sixteenth-century Palazzo Marin<\/strong> is located in the heart of Venice, between La Fenice Theatre and Santa Maria del Giglio. The pictorial and structural setting of the rooms engages the audience in an elegant Venetian atmosphere of the past.<\/p>\n

Belonging to the Marin family,<\/strong> as attested by family crest (originally a blue wave on a silver leaf) engraved in the well in the inner garden the palace preserves frescoes and stuccoes of the eighteenth century.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Frescoes, tapestries and a grand piano, witnesses for centuries of mundane life and cultural encounters, have been the spectacular setting of many refined events.<\/p>\n

The decoration of the living room on the main floor, by Gaetano Zampini, reproduces mythological scenes<\/strong> such as La fuga<\/em> di Elena da Troia, Theseus and Ariadne. The room is embellished at the corners by four allegorical medallions representing Apollo and his Muses. The ceiling of the room overlooking the Rio della Fenice is the work of Giovanni Scarajo, with La Virt\u00f9<\/em> crowning Merito. In the next room we can see some flying cherubs in the oval plafond.<\/p>\n

The eighteenth-century character of Palazzo Marin, where the tradition of Tepelian art transpires in the brilliance of the colours and decorations<\/strong>, is the perfect setting for private events, weddings, exhibitions, readings and musical concerts. Comfortably relaxed in the sofas is like feeling at home.<\/p>\n

Countess Isabella Teotochi’s cultural drawing room<\/h2>\n

The reconstruction of the historical events of the building looks intricate and curious. Towards the end of the eighteenth century Countess Isabella Teotochi of Corfu used to live there; she had married in her first marriage Carlo Antonio Marin and later Giuseppe Albrizzi. A cultured, literary and beautiful woman who gathered around her great intellectuals of her time, including Vivant Denon, Ippolito Pindemonte, Ugo Foscolo and Canova<\/strong>, with whom she established cultural and love relationships.<\/p>\n

Countess Isabella dedicated to Antonio Canova the volume Works of Sculpture and Plastic by Antonio Canova, published in Venice in 1812. The artist, father of the Neoclassicism, in response, honoured the countess with a marble sculpture representing The Head of Elena<\/strong>, now stored at the St. Petersburg Hermitage.<\/p>\n

Isabella Teotochi, with her refined and intriguing personality and her ability to promote a lively cultural drawing room at Palazzo Marin, has always been compared to the equally magnetic Madame de Stael.<\/p>\n
