A 2018 full of Architecture, Dance, Theatre, Cinema and Music<\/h2>\n<p>While everyone is talking about the <strong>16th International Architecture Exhibition<\/strong> here is an overview of a year full of events with <strong>La Biennale in Venice<\/strong>; during the vernissage on <strong>May 23rd, 24th and 25th<\/strong> there will be many contaminations with Dance, Theatre, Cinema and Music.<\/p>\n<p>From <strong>May 26th to November 25th 2018 Freespace,<\/strong> the Architecture Bienniale of the architects <strong>Yvonne Farrell and Shelley McNamara<\/strong>, will be opened to the public. Their studio \u2018<strong>Grafton Architects<\/strong>\u2019 won the Silver Lion Award at the 2012 Architecture Biennale with the project of the new UTEC Campus of the University of Lima in Peru.<\/p>\n<p>The title chosen for the <strong>Architecture Biennale 2018<\/strong> is an invitation \u2018to re-examine our way of thinking, stimulating new ways of seeing the world and inventing solutions through which architecture can provide well-being and dignity to every inhabitant of this fragile planet. Irina Baldini is &#8216;<strong>\u00a07 ways to begin without knowing where to start<\/strong>&#8216;, with which she revealed herself at the Biennale College &#8211; &#8216;Choreographers&#8217; last year, and &#8216;<strong>Quite now&#8217;<\/strong> in absolute premiere.<\/p>\n<p>Choreography as a social experience, common space that performer and spectator model together: <strong>Faye Driscoll<\/strong> is for the first time in Italy with &#8216;<strong>Thank you for Coming&#8217;: &#8216;Attendance&#8217;<\/strong>, the first chapter of a series of works &#8216;made for and with the public&#8217;.<\/p>\n<p>Energy and expressive vitality come from another continent, from the Cape Verdean <strong>Marlene Monteiro<\/strong> Freitas, which the Biennale awards as a new talent with the<strong> Silver Lion<\/strong>:<\/p>\n<p>Twelve dancers and musicians for &#8216;<strong>Bacchae &#8211; Prelude to a Purge<\/strong>&#8216; presented by Cape Verdean Marlene Monteiro Freitas, Silver Lion for Lifetime Achievements.<\/p>\n<p>In the world premiere at the Biennale, <strong>Solos et duos<\/strong> (temporary title) by <strong>Marie Chouinard<\/strong> is a retrospective work of about thirty solos and duets.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div class=\"lb-page-content-wrap\">\n<div class=\"col-md-8 lb-page-content\">\n<h2>Biennale College &#8211; Danza<\/h2>\n<p>Promoting new talents by offering them to work closely to the masters for the development of their creations. For the Biennale College <strong>two intensive courses<\/strong> are dedicated to <strong>the art of dance<\/strong> and the <strong>art of choreography<\/strong>; they aim at 15 selected dancers, from 18 to 23 years (8 Italians, 2 Australians, 1 Dutch, 1 Greek, 1 Israeli, 1 from Singapore) , who after three months of training and interpretation will be protagonists of the 24 Pr\u00e9ludes de Chopin by Marie Chouinard and in a new creation by Daina Ashbee, conceived for Biennale College (29 June).<\/p>\n<p><strong>On July 1st three choreographers under 32<\/strong> will present three free and original creations of about 20 minutes. After a preparatory phase on the creative process of a master, this year is the one of Marie Chouinard; the three choreographers work toghether for six weeks on their creation with 7 professional dancers<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some phases of the work of choreographers and dancers will be open to the public at the 16th International Architecture Exhibition.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>12. This is how the performers <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/Rezzamastrella\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella<\/a> are defined, which the <strong>Biennial Theatre of Antonio Latella rewards with the Golden Lion Lifetime Achievement<\/strong> Award for the 46th International Theatre Festival 2018. Performer-author Rezza and artist-author Mastrella, have been on the scene since 1987, planning and signing innovative four-handed shows.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Silver Lion<\/strong> goes to the Castelfranco Veneto company <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/ANAGOORteatro\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Anagoor<\/a>, a <strong>collective laboratory<\/strong> between theatre, performing art, philosophy and hypermedia scene that since 2000 has developed a language &#8220;between the stuttering of barbarism and the crystalline splendour of the neoclassical&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>T<strong>he Lions will be presented on July 20th at the opening of the Festival<\/strong>. For the occasion, the Anagoor Company will present their absolute premiere Orestea &#8211; Agamemnon, Schiavi, Conversio. Often referred to as one of the greatest and most influential directors in the world, Cronenberg has earned with his films the praise and appreciation of international critics. Overall, he received seven Golden Globe nominations and four Oscars. Regarding the recognition of the director, Alberto Barbera declared<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Violence, sexual transgression, the confusion of real and virtual, the distorting role of the image in contemporary society, are some of the recurring themes that contribute to making him one of the most daring and stimulating cinematographers of all time, a tireless innovator of forms and languages<\/p>\n<p><strong>75. An increasingly pop music Biennale<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p><em><strong>Crossing the Atlantic<\/strong><\/em> is the title of the <strong>62nd International Festival of Contemporary Music<\/strong>, presented in Venice from <strong>September 28th to October 7th<\/strong>. A Festival, open to a &#8220;more current interpretation of the concept of modernity&#8221;, according to the thoughts of Director Ivan Fedele and dedicated to musical influences between Europe and the Americas. The Festival of Music will present 18 concerts for a total of 40 first performances: 18 absolute, 1 European and 21 Italian.<\/p>\n<p>To inaugurate the 62nd Festival there will be the masterpiece of <strong>Frank Zappa<\/strong> &#8211; The Yellow Shark, in full version with the 26 elements of the <strong>Ensemble Contemporary Music Park<\/strong> directed by Tonino Battista and the participation of vocalist David Moss.<\/p>\n<p>Considered the creative synthesis of Frank Zappa, The Yellow Shark is the expression of a musical thinking that freely crosses all genres, able to merge orchestral score and improvisation, experimental rock and academic avant-garde, performance and interpretive details.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement at Keith Jarrett<\/strong> who at the 62nd Festival will perform in front of the audience one of his l<strong>egendary solos at the piano that made him famous<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>From rock to jazz and finally to <strong>Astor Piazzolla&#8217;s tango<\/strong>. In Venice there will be <strong>Marcelo Nisinman<\/strong>, composer, arranger, director and champion of the bandone\u00f3n for a new edition of the most famous opera-tango of Piazzolla, Maria de Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Sebastian Rivas, Leone d&#8217;Argento<\/strong> of the Festival, brings to the <em>Aliados<\/em> Biennale in Venice, a <strong>multimedia work,<\/strong> with sounds, images and voices manipulated in real time. The work recalls the meeting that actually took place between Augusto Pinochet and Margaret Thatcher, the allies of the title at the time of the conflict for the Falkland Islands.<\/p>\n<p>In the list of the ten best bassists of all time according to Rolling Stone, <strong>Victor Wooten<\/strong> presents in European premiere his latest CD, <em>Trypnotyx<\/em>, accompanied by drummer Dennis Chambers, session man with Scofield, McLaughlin, Santana, and saxophonist and flutist Bob Franceschini.<\/p>\n<p>On the side of music enriched and created by technological devices, <strong>concerts become theatre<\/strong> shows with interpreters-performers, scenic environments and installations. Thus Nidra by <strong>Giacomo Baldelli,<\/strong> conceived as a <strong>multisensory work,<\/strong> with pieces that reconnect art music to the subversive energy of rock, such as <em>Trash TV Trance<\/em> by Fausto Romitelli or <em>Vampyr!<\/em> by Tristan Murail.<\/p>\n<p>It also happens in &#8216;Le chant de la mati\u00e8re&#8217; by L<strong>aura Bianchini <\/strong>and <strong>Michelangelo Lupone<\/strong>, who invent drums made of interactive membranes with a metal shaft capable of projecting the vibrations on a screen, thanks to the percussionist Philippe Spiesser.<\/p>\n<p>Still great show in the concerts dedicated to the double bass only: by <strong>Dario Calderone<\/strong>, interpreter of Ur, two double bass rites by Giorgio Netti in an amplified version that brings the audience close and then far away, immerses the viewer in the sound and in the instrument; by <strong>Florentin Ginot,<\/strong> which presents &#8216;Not Here&#8217;, where there is space for the four double basses, one for each music piece, exploring the full sound range of this instrument; by <strong>Charlotte Testu<\/strong>, who uses electronic devices to reinvent the instrumental technique of the double bass.<\/p>\n<p>Finally the duo cellos by<strong> Norman Adams <\/strong>and <strong>Nicola Baroni<\/strong>: in their concerts score, computational programming and execution lose their traditionally defined contours and the virtual sound emerges as an effective consequence of the actions that take place on stage.<\/p>\n<p>Applauded as the diva of avant-garde pianism, <strong>Margaret Leng Tan<\/strong> brings her concert to the Festival with music by Cowell, Cage, Crumb.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Haydn Orchestra<\/strong> conducted by Tito Ceccherini, the soprano Giulia Bolcato and the violinist Francesco D&#8217;Orazio are dynamic and high performing; the <strong>Ensemble Linea<\/strong>, founded in 1998 by the pianist and conductor Philippe Wurtz; the <strong>Mivos Quartet,<\/strong> founded in New York and interpreter of contemporary music; the string quartet <strong>Untref<\/strong>, one of the first ensembles in Argentina dedicated to music from the late twentieth century to the present day.<\/p>\n<p><strong>62.
