Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20 marks the return of the Redentore Festival, one of the most cherished events for Venetians. For nearly five centuries, on the third weekend of July, the city has commemorated the end of the plague in 1577 with celebrations across land and water, religious rites, and the fireworks display in St. Mark’s Basin.

Bookings open July 7 for the “Notte Famosissima”
Bookings for the Redentore Festival open on Monday, July 7 on the portal www.redentorevenezia.it.
Residents of the Municipality of Venice and the inhabitants of Giudecca and Sacca Fisola have priority until July 9 to book their place on the shores free of charge. Starting from July 10, non-residents will also be able to book spots in the Zattere and San Marco areas. Venetians not residing in Giudecca will have time to book a spot on the island from July 10 to 15.
Practical information
After booking (please note, during the procedure it is necessary to call a landline number), you will receive a voucher to be printed and presented at the entry gates. It is advisable to arrive 15 minutes before the indicated time.

The weekend program
The votive bridge will be inaugurated on Friday, July 18 at 7 PM; this 334-meter-long floating bridge connects the Zattere with the Church of the Redentore and can be crossed on foot until Sunday, July 20.
On Saturday, July 19, the shores of the Zattere and Giudecca are lit up with illuminations and garlands, while St. Mark’s Basin and the Giudecca Canal fill with thousands of colorful boats full of music.
By late afternoon, friends and families gather on board around tables laden with traditional Venetian dishes: the inevitable sarde in saor, creamed cod, and pasta e fagioli. Many prefer to share the atmosphere with neighbors and friends on the shores, which become meeting points for cheerful, multicultural gatherings.
The highlight of the festival is the fireworks display: at exactly 11:30 PM, the lights go out, an ethereal silence falls, and the entire city stops to watch and listen to the fireworks, I Foghi, which light up the sky in a thousand colors for over half an hour until midnight. Then, everyone heads to the beach at the Lido or to the parties that enliven the whole city until dawn.
On Sunday, July 20, the Redentore regattas take place in the Giudecca Canal: two-oar pupparini for the youth at 4 PM, two-oar pupparini for men at 4:45 PM, and two-oar gondolas at 5:30 PM.
The Votive Holy Mass is celebrated on Sunday at 7 PM in the Church of the Redentore with Patriarch Francesco Moraglia.
Where to watch the fireworks
The total availability is approximately 45,000 places distributed among the main areas of the city. Approximately 5,000 places will be available on the Zattere, about 12,000 in Giudecca, and about 28,000 in the San Marco and Riva degli Schiavoni area. The Sant’Elena area remains open access, with no booking required.

Options for those choosing a boat
To participate with your own vessel, it is mandatory to book a spot for free in the dedicated mooring areas using the official website www.redentorevenezia.it (it is advisable to do so promptly, as spots fill up quickly).
Eight specific areas are available for mooring: Gesuati, Redentore, Spirito Santo, San Marco, Zitelle, Dogana, Arsenale, as well as spaces reserved for gondolas and water taxis. The choice of area depends on the type and size of the vessel.
