Al Duca d’Aosta 1902 is a men tailoring atelier, half British and half Italian style, an intimate living room where you can devote care and attention to yourself as a star of the Venice Film Festival.
Two family journals tell a story of stars and haute couture: Al Duca d’Aosta 1902 used to be a fashion house for dukes and princes passing through Venice in the 40s and 50s.
The discovery of the two journals full of notes signed by the Film Festival’s stars, as a memory to the family for their tailoring of the gala evenings’ dresses, the old yellowed postcards with the timeless silhouette of the Hotel Excelsior and the paper patterns and the detailed sketches of sleeves and waistcoats, have renewed the creativity flair of a Venetian company, a historical brand that is a symbol of fashion and high quality.
Weekends at Lido and Viver by sea are the moods for the Spring / Summer 2017 collection by Al Duca d’Aosta, which got the inspiration from the places which the brand is linked to, a brand that this year is rediscovering and celebrating its origins.
The Venice Lido is the setting for a collection that ranges from the refined every day suits to the most informal garments for the summer, to the elegant suits to be worn at the Film Festival. The 60s black and white photos of the stars such as Paul Newman, Marcello Mastroianni or the viveur Gigi Rizzi are the source of inspiration for these garments with a fresh and timeless taste, with an artisan and sartorial flavour that celebrates the Made in Italy.
In Campo San Zulian At the Duca d’Aosta Venice 1902 has created a men’s tailoring atelier where traditional elegance blends with contemporary trends, and the typical British style combines perfectly with the Italian sartorial taste.
The space expresses the shop attitude to become a city intimate living room where you can give attention and care to yourself: glossy black lacquered windows, wallpaper, brass inserts, rough wood and a play of lights on the ground floor, privacy with a fireplace and upholstery in orange leather and petroleum on the first floor.
Tweed garments, Shetland and cashmere sweaters and tailor-made coats, are the strong points of the new Venezia1902 collection, designed for a modern man who pays attention to details. A man who loves an elegant and confident style in his everyday life and who combines traditional elegance and modernity in every moment of the day.
The colours of the SS 2017 collection are divided into three palettes: the first for a casual blue, light gray and white style, accompanied by selvedge denim; the second for a more sophisticated clothing, with shades of tobacco, turtledove, bordeaux and antique rose; and finally with the third for a decisive look and colonial references, typically summerish and warm, with bright colours such as strawberry and goose beak, military greens and sage, ochre and beige.
The old yellowed postcards and the notes left by the Stars are mixed in the prints and all over the jackets interior. The collection is completed with dedicated accessories, shoes and bags, belts and bracelets, ties and bow ties, kerchiefs, scarves and gloves, in perfect harmony with the mood of the season.
