“Not forgetting who we are and where we come from is essential for the future,” says Gloria Rogliani, who promotes and preserves the rowing tradition in Venice with the aim of turning this ancient discipline into a new way of experiencing the city
Gloria Rogliani is a rowing champion. For years, she has been promoting and preserving the rowing tradition in Venice, particularly encouraging young people to become role models for children by using the same language and approach.
“To motivate young people to learn a trade that enhances the city, it is necessary to convey the passion and the effort that rowing requires,” says Gloria, owner of Voga Camp, one of the companies involved in the Upskill Venezia project, promoted by Fondazione di Venezia and in collaboration with Upskill 4.0, a spin-off of Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
Her goal is to project this ancient discipline into the future as a new way of experiencing the city, and she explained: “My first gym was the squares and the streets; then I started rowing,” she continues, “and a world of culture and knowledge opened up to me, making me understand where I lived. As a teacher, I have tried to connect the local area with schools, as it is a unique opportunity to introduce the city’s identity and history to new generations. Not forgetting who we are, where we come from, and what we have done is fundamental for the future.”
