A dress made from a UNHCR tent once sheltered a refugee family in the Za’atari camp. Dress for our time is a performance featuring Bianca Balti in Venice, now a video installation for the exhibition Rothko in Lampedusa organized by UNHCR, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees, curated by Venetians Luca Berta and Francesca Giubilei on the occasion of the 58th International Art Exhibition of Venice.
The shelter-dress is a project by Helen Storey, artist and designer from the London College of Fashion at the University of the Arts London, to raise awareness about the dramatic condition experienced by over 68.5 million people uprooted from their homes by war and violence.
“Through art, people in flight keep their humanity alive, their dignity, and rekindle the hope of rebuilding their country,” stated Carlotta Sami, UNHCR Spokesperson for Southern Europe. In collaboration with London College of Fashion and Goldsmiths College, University of London, UNHCR and the Rothko in Lampedusa exhibition are organizing the Spreading CreActivity round table to reflect on the role of creativity for women and men living as refugees, with contributions from Matteo Ward, Frances Corner, Lina Abirafeh, Sue Clayton, Carlotta Sami, Pratap Rughani. Closing Party of the exhibition La Regola del Sogno
Last day to immerse yourself once more in the oneiric dream of Fornasetti at T Fondaco dei Tedeschi. A party with a DJ set among irreverent monkeys, female faces, and suspended hands on Friday, November 22 from 9:30 PM marks the finissage of the exhibition La Regola del Sogno, an installation by Barnaba Fornasetti and Valeria Manzi.

Festa della Madonna della Salute
November is a month with strong symbolic meaning for Venetians because on November 21, the Madonna della Salute is celebrated. Throughout the day, the city’s most majestic church is open without interruption, and to facilitate the pilgrimage, a votive bridge connecting the two banks is erected over the Grand Canal. The bridge will remain open continuously until 6:00 AM on Friday, November 22.
The anniversary originates from the great plague epidemic that struck all of northern Italy between 1630 and 1631. On October 22, 1630, the Doge of Venice made a vow to erect a grandiose and solemn votive temple if the city survived the disease. A few weeks later, the epidemic slowed down abruptly and then regressed until it died out in November 1631. The government then decreed to repeat every year, as a sign of gratitude, the procession in honor of the Madonna, known since then as the “Salute,” and the government of the Republic commissioned Baldassare Longhena for the design of the temple.
Free admission to Palazzo Grassi for students and residents, events and workshops
On the occasion of the Feast of the Madonna della Salute, on Thursday, November 21, admission to the museums of Punta della Dogana and Palazzo Grassi is free for residents of the Metropolitan City of Venice and for students of Venetian universities. At the Teatrino di Palazzo Grassi at 6:30 PM, the electro-acoustic artist and composer Tarek Atoui presents the performance THE GROUND Sessions.

Musicians Alan Affichard, Igor Porte, and Rosario Sorbello improvise together with Tomoko Sauvage in the foyer of the Teatrino, while in the auditorium Daniel Araya reworks the sounds produced by the quartet and transforms them into techno, ambient, and acid music.

A look at hidden Venetian arts
At the Casa Dei Tre Oci on Giudecca, it is possible until November 24 to discover Venetian excellence in craftsmanship with a photographic exhibition: Venezia All’Opera showcases 14 historic entities of the Venetian artisanal tradition through the eyes of two young photographers, Giovanni Genzini and Alberto Papagni, guided by Denis Curti, curator of the exhibition and Artistic Director of the Casa dei Tre Oci, where the retrospective of Ferdinando Scianna, a reference figure in international contemporary photography, remains until February 2, 2020, curated by Denis Curti, Paola Bergna, and Alberto Bianda. BUSTROFEDICO by Anna Franceschini

On Saturday, November 23 at 8:00 PM, the short film created by Anna Franceschini and produced by In Between Art Film and Gluck50 will be presented in the Sala Cesetti of the Hotel Bauer. BUSTROFEDICO is a special project documenting the exhibition for the Italian Pavilion of the 58th International Art Exhibition of the Venice Biennale Neither this nor another: The challenge to the Labyrinth, curated by Milovan Farronato.
The exhibition brings together works by Enrico David, Chiara Fumai, and Liliana Moro. The screening is followed by a special performance by the Italian writer Isabella Santacroce, who will transport the audience from the labyrinthine dimension of the exhibition to the equally intricate and enchanting dimension of her literature.
As unique as the entire project is the finissage of the Italian Pavilion exhibition: an afterparty curated by the electronic music duo Blinky at the Piccolo Mondo nightclub at the Accademia.

The dream is a psychic phenomenon linked to sleep, which generally occurs during REM sleep phases, and is strongly characterized by the perception, even in a fragmentary way, of images and sounds recognized as apparently real.
The exhibition is conceived as the content of a never-revealed dream in which various images follow one another, like the fantastic reproduction that takes place in the consciousness of the content of a sensory experience or the free elaboration of what could be the content of such an experience.
Each work is accompanied by verses by the poet Paolo Gambi, which seek to penetrate the essence of creation and translate it into words, from the experimental perspective of an exploration of the relationship between visual art and poetry. Read more

For the little ones, KIDS DAYS organized by the Peggy Guggenheim Collection return, free workshops aimed at children aged between 4 and 10 that take place every Sunday from 3:00 PM to 4:30 PM at the museum.
