A Dress for Venice is an exhibition within Homo Faber in Città at Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, Venice
Sunday, April 10 2022 from 11:30 am to 1 pm, Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua and Venezia da Vivere in collaboration with Homo Faber present A Dress for Venice, an exhibition of wearable artworks, a project to promote the themes of fine craftsmanship, sustainability, haute couture in Venice, created with Tiziano Guardini, the eco-designer and winner of the first Green Carpet Fashion Award, that represents fashion sustainable in Italy.
The exhibition will take place from April 11 to 29 2022 at the Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua in Venice.
In the historical premises of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua on the Grand Canal in Venice, among historical looms and ancient Jacquard equipment from the 18. century, from April 11 to 29 2022, seven numbered artworks, bearers of undisputed values for present and future times, evoke 1600 years of history of the Serenissima and its artisans, who, with their mastery, bring the thousand-year-old Venetian artisanal heritage into the future.
A homage to Japan, guest of honor at Homo Faber 2022, six kimonos created by Tiziano Guardini, and with illustrations by artist Luigi R. Ciuffreda, tell stories that celebrate Life and connection with nature.
When a precious past meets a green future: everything in this project has immense value, from the fine tailoring to the use of the textured velvet from the archives of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, a project in which Venice creates a new narrative of haute couture, merging craftsmanship, sustainability and contemporary culture. A dress for Venice looks to the future and creates a path to make fashion sustainable, where sharing a green vision becomes an asset for the territory and for new generations.
A Dress for Venice is a project by Venezia da Vivere with Tiziano Guardini and the Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua – the only weaving workshop in Venice. The project actively involved Tavolo Veneto della Moda (Confartigianato, CNA, Confindustria, Confcommercio and Confesercenti del Veneto) and some of the companies associated with the network as well as institutions, universities and vocational schools. The exhibition is under the patronage of the Italy Japan Foundation and of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Japan.
In the process that will bring Venice to become the world capital of sustainability, this event is a step in the path that candidates Venice as the place for the international debate on fashion sustainability.
A Dress for Venice is part of the official programme of Homo Faber in Città.

The most ancient silk velvet weaving workshop, Venetian family which has been working in Venice since 1499 producing handmade exquisite fabrics created in ancient 18. Century looms coming from the Scuola della Seta of the Repubblica di Venezia. Bevilacqua fabrics are used in haute couture, interior design and architecture and represent the absolute best of Venetian craftsmanship in the world.
An international exhibition highlighting the role of craftsmanship in the creation of a sustainable and inclusive future that celebrates, from April 10 to May 1, the living treasures of artisanship, and exhibits materials, techniques and skills at the Giorgio Cini Foundation and in the most important artisanal ateliers in Venice.
