Seen during the preview of the 58th Venice Art Biennale: the new collection from the Venetian atelier Martina Vidal
A magical debut for Martina Vidal’s Spring/Summer creations: the previews of the 58th Venice Art Biennale.
The Martina Vidal atelier
Martina Vidal is among the last guardians of the art of lace-making, the ancient tradition of Burano, the island where the Venetian designer founded her atelier in 1990. Lace-making is at risk of disappearing, but the brand Martin Vidal Venezia protects it with dedication, even organizing lace-making courses at the Atelier.
All creations are 100% Made in Italy: linen and cotton muslin embellished with embroidery and lace in harmony with Venice, which recognizes this ancient art as one of the cornerstones of its artisanal tradition.
A heart-shaped logo, a symbol of love for Venice
Martin Vidal Venezia, known from its beginnings as Merletti d’arte Martina, aims to preserve a discipline that requires not only expertise but also passion, dedication, and patience.
Founded in 1990 as a small artisan workshop, Martina’s project now boasts a showroom of nearly 300 square meters and serves as an example for the entire city of Venice, thanks to its commitment to preserving the craftsmanship and traditions of a unique city like Venice.
In 2010, siblings Martina and Sergio Vidal launched the new brand Martin Vidal Venezia, which features the MV logo on all creations in the collection, from clothing to accessories. A calligraphic stroke forms the image of a heart, a metaphor for the love that unites the commitment to craftsmanship with the art of lace-making. The logo is also an immediate symbol of harmonious and elegant collections, both simple and original at the same time.
