Here’s the first look into the program of the next Venice Fashion Week, taking place in Venice from 17th to 26th October 2019:
The London College of Fashion, the British Consulate General Department for International trading, Marina Spadafora of Fashion Revolution and the designers Tiziano Guardini and Patrick McDowell will all take part in the next edition of the Venice Fashion Week.
The Day of Sustainable Fashion will be held in Venice at the Hotel Ca’ Sagredo on Wednesday 23rd October 2019.
Uk-Italy: Lessons in Sustainable Fashion are followed by the presentation of the two guest stylists’ collections in the evening – the themes will focus on fashion sustainability, on the training for future designers and on consumer education. Industry experts, companies and young creatives will join the Italian and English speakers.
Made in Italy fashion and contemporary art, artisan palaces and ateliers will open the doors to fashion shows and exhibitions, young creative designers, high craftsmanship and international guests: Venice Fashion Week is an event created to promote the future of the city of Venice and the Veneto Region as a place of production, creativity and inspiration; a city to be experienced through new lifestyles and where to create relationships among oustanding local and international creative talents. The themes of the Venetian fashion week are: sustainable fashion, high craftsmanship and creative young people.
The event’s organinsers Laura Scarpa and Lorenzo Cinotti of Venezia da Vivere, have involved among the fashion, craft and culture companies of the city and of the Veneto region also the historic Venetian company Antica Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua, the last factory of precious fabrics for the haute couture that produces on the Grand Canal damasked and soprarizzo velvets with antique looms.
The director of the London College of Fashion Prof. Frances Corner OBE and Marina Iremonger, head of Fashion and Creative Industries at the British Consulate, have announced the second edition of the UK-Italy round table: Lessons in Sustainable Fashion, during the Sustainable Fashion Day on Wednesday 23rd October.
The table will be moderated by Marina Spadafora and it will involve representatives of the Italian and English fashion. Speakers at the Round Table and protagonists of the fashion event that will take place in the evening at Ca’Sagredo, are the designers Tiziano Guardini and Patrick McDowell, involved to talk about sustainability and fashion with a focus on training future designers and educating consumers.
Design consultant for Prada, Miu Miu, Ferragamo and Marni, Marina Spadafora is the Italian coordinator of Fashion Revolution, a global movement for ethical and sustainable fashion.
Winner of the Green Carpet Fashion Award for the best emerging designer, the designer Tiziano Guardini has been committed for several years in promoting sustainable fashion. He has been affectionately defined by the press as “the stylist of nature”; he was also a guest at the United Nations for the event ‘Fashion for Forest and Forest for Fashion’ together with Maestro Michelangelo Pistoletto.
Patrick McDowell, a 23-year-old designer from Liverpool, has graduated at the famous London school Central Saint Martins; he represents the next generation of UK sustainable fashion and he will talk about his approach to sustainability and ethical work.
The next Venice Fashion Week takes place in Venice from October 17th to 26th 2019 and it is organized by Venezia da Vivere with the collaboration of the Municipality of Venice, the Veneto Region and the Fashion Table.
