CNA of Venice presents the fashion collections of 35 artisans and 22 Venetian brands combining sustainability and contemporary design
“How will we live together?” is the title of the 2021 Architecture Biennale. How will we live together? CNA of Venice asked itself this question on the occasion of the city’s extraordinary anniversary celebrated in 2021, then posed the question to Venetian artisans. This is how on Thursday, May 27, CNA presents the fashion collections of 35 artisans and 22 Venetian brands with an event combining sustainability and contemporary design.
“For Venice, ‘living in the future‘ means safeguarding and transmitting the precious artisan craft, the know-how that has built the city over the centuries, the workshop that brings the community together, the talent that produces precious objects, living art,” states Roberto Paladini, Director of CNA Venice historic center.
How will we live in the future?
The answer is a project to enhance and promote Venetian craftsmanship featuring 35 artisans and 22 Venetian brands combining sustainability and contemporary design. The project is part of the program of events for the 1600th anniversary of the Serenissima promoted and coordinated by the Municipality of Venice.
Innovative fabrics hand-painted with vegetable dyes, tailored jackets made from kitesurf sails, custom-made shoes, gold for jewelry and cosmetics, traditional techniques that are UNESCO intangible heritage and an expression of Venice: Moda Venezia Futuro is a fashion show that will take place on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at Ca’ Sagredo.
The 22 selected artisan companies are committed to sustainability and transmitting tradition to future generations, and represent Venetian craftsmanship in its various forms: tailoring, goldsmithing, pearl and glass art, millinery, custom-made shoes, gold-beating, mask-making, corsetry, hand-knitted knitwear, creative reuse:
