What are the most beautiful places in Venice where you can cultivate your soul together with friends? We know some little hidden gems where to encounter and discover the social side of the Venetian cultural life: Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, the Teatrino Groggia, the Teatro a L’Avogaria, the Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi, the beautiful venue of the IED in Venice and Palazzo Franchetti.
It is an interesting period for Venice, the one that precedes the Carnival: empty streets, peace, the serenity of the village where everyone knows each other, our favourite cafés, free concerts and shows for adults and children hosted in wonderful Venetian palaces. We have created an itinerary to nourish your spirit, body and imagination. Come with us.
While in Cannaregio the Instancabile Groggia season is ready to start with the theatre for the city of Mattia Berto at the Teatrino of Villa Groggia, in Dorsoduro the dell’Avogaria Stand-Up Comedy review continues; it is a ‘without censorship’ comedy show in the lovely space of the Teatro a l’Avogaria. While at the Zattere we can discover the new talents of the contemporary music scene: Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi presents the third edition of New Echoes, an exhibition that opens the doors of two spaces: Teatrino of Palazzo Grassi, an iconic venue designed by Tadao Ando, and the phantasmagorical Palazzo Franchetti, the Venetian headquarters of the IED Istituto Europeo di Design of Venice.
NEW ECHOES
New Swiss Music Festival in Venice
3rd edition – January – April 2019
After the great success of the first two editions, the third season of New Echoes, the New Swiss Music festival, begins on Friday 18th January at 9.00 pm, with a project by Enrico Bettinello at Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi, headquarters of the Swiss Consulate in Venice and of the Foundation Switzerland for culture Pro Helvetia. He will present some of the most interesting musical realities from Switzerland between contemporary jazz, indie-rock and electronics.
6 events between January and April 2019 to discover the relational potential among different musical languages: we will start with the Stefan Aeby Trio at the piano and continue with the experimental folk singer-songwriter by Eric Chenaux, the guitar research by Christy Doran, the percussions of Lucas Niggli, the new electric of the Trio Heinz Herbert and the female performative pop of the Eclecta. All concerts are free admission.
The photos: Palazzo Trevisan degli Ulivi where Stefan Aeby Trio will play; the pop performers Eclecta; and Palazzo Franchetti IED Venice where Lucas Niggli will play with his Alchemia Garden.

Where to go before and after the concerts
We like very much Nico’s ice cream at the Zatere; with its famous terrace on the water it is not just a summer place, but a true Venetian institution where to drink a ‘spritz’ aperitif together with others local Venetians; it’s became famous for the walking-gianduiotto and as a place where to lay in the sun in complete relax. The fresh whipped cream to take home, made fresh on the spot, is highly recommended, a delicatessen to wait for while looking at the stormy water of the Giudecca Canal.
The theatre for the city of Mattia Berto is at the Teatrino Groggia in Cannaregio and inside Venetian hotels
We are waiting for 23rd February 2019 when we will participate in the second act of Sherazade. My life hanging on a story, the new laboratory of a theatre for the citizens by Mattia Berto for the Teatro Stabile of the Veneto region will take us to the discovery of the most mysterious hotels in Venice. We accept the director’s invitation to reflect on the city through the lenses of the theatre.
The festival “Instancabile Teatro di Mpg Cultura” dedicates shows and workshops to various public audiences, until next April: ‘Instancabili Piccoli’ is an itinerary for children full of suggestions like the machines of dreams by Marcello Chiarenza while the evening programm ‘Instancabili Adulti’ for adults brings on stage international companies and new experimentations .

From great passion and courage amazing things are born: the most unmissable place in Venice is the library / bistro SullaLuna, where you can rest your soul or let it fly.
Independent bookshop and bistro where to find vegan dishes and organic ice creams, with its two shop windows, shabby tables and creativity workshops for children enriches the beautiful Fondamenta della Misericordia, still one of the most popular and sincere venues of Venice. Silent books, graphic novels, cookbooks, buffalo mozzarella, vegetables and bread cooked in wood, coffee, tea and infusions and the Lunatico prosecco, their own production in Refrontolo.

In this case the place to nourish your soul is a study and design store that we love and with whom we share the commitment to promote the creativity and the independent precious craftsmanship produced in Venice: Antonella and Mauro are the architects of Studio Kanz, a welcoming space right next to the Avogaria theatre. In addition to designing and producing beautiful objects, they organize cultural projects such as Ve.NICE STUFF, an exhibition event that allows the public to discover local artisans and designers, enhancing the Italian artistic heritage in a quest for a contemporary, authentic and excellent design.
