The Venice Fashion Week returns, the week of sartorial and sustainable fashion that reinvents craftsmanship in a contemporary key. Come discover where Italian savoir-faire is born with ApritiModa on the weekend of October 19 and 20. Fourteen years of Venice Design Week in Venice: the festival with meetings and exhibitions on international design. There is life in art venues: music and mixology at Ca’ Pesaro Lounge, Marina Apollonio, living artist of the optical-kinetic movement, at the Peggy Guggenheim Collection, Carlo Scarpa and children’s workshops at the Olivetti Store. 60 original plates by Guido Crepax and Piero Macola on display in Venice for an immersive and itinerant project between comics and lagoon.
The water of Venice’s canals and lagoon takes center stage in an immersive exhibition on the work of two important comic artists of Venetian origin and relatives, Guido Crepax (1933), master of erotic comics, and Piero Macola (1976), esteemed graphic novel author. We encounter Valentina, the iconic sexy photographer drawn by Guido Crepax, and Paolo, protagonist of Macola’s latest graphic novel, along with enlargements and projections to explore the hidden canals and mysterious atmosphere of Venice, guided by the unique vision of the two artists.
The public and students from the art high school will delve deeper into comic techniques with educational workshops organized in collaboration with the Comics course at the Venice Academy of Fine Arts, exploring new ways of storytelling through images and words.

From the depths of the lagoon emerge silent stories that transform the Venetian ecosystem into living art: these are the works exhibited in the solo exhibition by Paolo della Corte, curated by Laura Riolfatto.
Canvases of lagoon fish printed on cotton and immersed in water for weeks, where the infiltration of algae and mollusks tell an unusual dialogue between art and nature, showing how water transforms and narrates. The collaboration with Ca’ Foscari University Venice and CNR adds a scientific dimension, analyzing the chemical transformations on the canvases.

- Marina Apollonio. Beyond the Circle

Peggy Guggenheim Collection
From optical illusions to kinetic sculptures, from monochromatic patterns to bold chromatic explorations: this is the retrospective on Marina Apollonio, the first Italian solo exhibition dedicated to the Trieste-born artist, a prominent figure in optical and kinetic art, a movement that revolutionized the concept of visual perception in the 1960s and 1970s.
Curated by Marianna Gelussi, the exhibition brings together about one hundred works from the artist’s studio and important national and international museum institutions, creating an exhibition path that highlights the rigor and innovation of Apollonio’s visual research, spanning painting, sculpture, drawing and environmental installations.
The illustrated catalog, published by Marsilio Arte, accompanying the exhibition includes contributions from scholars such as Arnauld Pierre and Max Hollein, as well as an interview with the artist conducted by Cecilia Alemani.

The Lazzaretto Nuovo reopens its doors for two Saturdays in October. It is an incredible island in the northern lagoon of Venice, reborn thanks to a non-profit project involving thousands of people from around the world, where six centuries ago it gave birth to the quarantine system.
Part of the route through ancient walls, archaeological excavations, original graffiti, monumental buildings, the Barene Path, created with the Natural History Museum of Venice, invites visitors on a nature walk along the ancient military patrol route.

- A Brave New World. Tales from a Craft Utopia

In the spaces of the San Giobbe Campus (Cannaregio 813) of Ca’ Foscari University Venice
Event by the artistic duo D20 ART LAB of Sergio Marchesini and Raffaella Rivi, part of the research project Hephaestus, supported by the European Commission’s Horizon program, with the involvement of artistic researchers from the Copenhagen Business School.
Through a sequence of 18 images generated with artificial intelligence, the artists guide us into an alternative world, far from contemporary industrial logic, where production approaches artisanal roots. The use of resources and consumption are rethought in a more sustainable and creative key.
The exhibition also enters the scientific program of the Venice School of Management entitled ARTIFICIALE. Managerial Intelligence and Artistic Thought, opening a dialogue between art and business, and emphasizing how technological innovation can redefine our future and our relationship with the environment.

Surrealism in Italy: conference for the centenary of the Surrealist Manifesto

For the centenary of the publication of the Manifesto of Surrealism, the Peggy Guggenheim Collection with the curatorship of Gražina Subelytė, Giulia Ingarao and Hubertus Gassner presents Italy is more surrealist than the Pope (quote Salvador Dalí, 1935): a conference open to the public that explores Italy’s role in international Surrealism from the 1920s to the post-World War II period.
Over the two days, scholars from around the world will share new perspectives with the public to reread and deepen the surrealist movement and its connection with Italy from an entirely original perspective.

Setting sail on Saturday, October 19 for the eleventh edition of the Venice Hospitality Challenge, where maxi yachts compete in a spectacular course that crosses the St. Mark’s Basin. A spectacle for sailing enthusiasts and curious onlookers that makes this competition a meeting point between sport and lifestyle.
A key event in Venice’s sailing and hospitality scene: each yacht is paired with one of the city’s most prestigious hotels, representing the union between maritime tradition and high-end hospitality.
Conceived by Mirko Sguario, president of Yacht Club Venezia, the event stands out for the high quality of the competing boats and the involvement of hotels that embody the symbol of comfort and Venetian history.

It is the only regatta in the world that allows participants to arrive under full sail in St. Mark’s Basin: the Veleziana is a competition organized by Compagnia della Vela, starting from the sea, in front of the Lido of Venice, and concluding in the lagoon, right in front of St. Mark’s Square.
A spectacular challenge involving over 300 boats including sailing yachts of various sizes, racing and amateur boats, from Italian and international yacht clubs.
Celebrating the Venetian sailing spirit is the Veleziana Dinghy Classic, a competition reserved for boats of a specific sailing class, the 12-foot Dinghy: a small single-handed sailboat designed in 1913, a symbol of sailing thanks to its simplicity, maneuverability and widespread popularity.

Ca’ Pesaro – International Gallery of Modern Art
Chilean artist of great influence in the 20th century, Roberto Matta explored through painting a universe of ideas ranging from science to philosophy. Trained as an architect and with experience in Le Corbusier’s atelier, he developed a unique visual language through his adherence to Surrealism.
The exhibition, curated by Norman Rosenthal, Dawn Ades and Elisabetta Barisoni, presents works including painting, drawing and sculpture, reflecting a deep interest in themes such as architecture, politics and humanity.

An international conference with scholars Gherardo Ortalli and Christine Gadrat-Ouerfelli on the role of the Dominicans in Eastern discoveries and the translation of the Milione.
The sessions delve into historical and philological questions, with presentations by Antonio Montefusco on the Latin translation of the Milione by Francesco Pipino and by Herman G.B Teule on the Dominicans as mediators between Rome and the Syriac Churches.
Dominican travel literature comes to life through the words of Balázs Nagy, who examines Marco Polo’s precursors, and Pier Giorgio Borbone, who explores the vision of Eastern Christians as seen by Riccoldo da Montecroce.
The impact of travel on the arts is at the center of presentations by Silvia Pedone and Giovanni Curatola, who investigate respectively a visual map of the traveling Middle Ages and textiles between East and West.

Tese delle Nappe, Arsenale
Venice Sounds brings Italian music to Venice, transforming the large spaces of the Tese delle Nappe at the Arsenale into a stage for medical-scientific research.
Under the artistic direction of Samuel Romano of Subsonica, the event brings together artists such as Andy, Livio and Sergio of Bluvertigo, Bud Spencer Blues Explosion, Joan Thiele, Motel Connection, Alex Neri with Planet Funk, Roy Paci, Saturnino and many other guests. It will be a moment when artists and audience unite to support an important cause.
Born from the Giancarlo Ligabue Foundation and Medicine Rocks, in collaboration with Fondazione Humanitas per la Ricerca, the event is a journey that began five years ago with Medicine Rock a music tribute to Tomaso Cavanna, in homage to Cavanna, a significant figure in the world of events and music.
The president of the Giancarlo Ligabue Foundation, Inti Ligabue, emphasizes the importance of supporting medical advances and raising public awareness. Edy Campo, president of Medicine Rocks, also highlights how this evening is dedicated to all those affected by diseases that must become increasingly treatable.
The proceeds from the event will be donated to the project of Professor Antonio Sica, engaged in developing nanotechnologies to deliver anticancer drugs directly to neoplastic lesions, reducing systemic toxicity and increasing therapeutic efficacy. During the evening, the professor will speak to present the results achieved and illustrate the future prospects of the research.
The evening will be hosted by radio and television presenters Marco Maccarini and Federico Russo.

Jazz through November
From the ritual groove of Nik Bärtsch to the contemporary sounds of Canberk Ulaş, Venezia Jazz Festival Fall Edition continues with its musical offering between experimentation and international talent.
The Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice hosts – Saturday, October 26, 7:30 PM – artists who challenge conventions with Bärtsch’s Mobile trio, transforming minimalist repetitions into hypnotic experiences.
Saturday, November 2 at 6 PM, at the Auditorium Lo Squero of the Giorgio Cini Foundation on the island of San Giorgio Maggiore, Eleonora Strino blends traditional jazz and Neapolitan influences, bringing a breath of fresh air to the music scene.
Iconic names such as Rachel Z and Omar Hakim, whose versatility spans genres and notable collaborations, will be at the Sale Apollinee of Teatro La Fenice on Sunday, November 3, in two performances: the first from 7:00 PM to 8:15 PM and the second from 9:00 PM to 10:15 PM.
Same location: Saturday, November 9 at 7:30 PM for São Paulo singer Vanessa Moreno and Paraíba pianist Salomão Soares. And on Tuesday, November 12 at 7 PM, the event is for lovers of new trends with Tomorrow’s Jazz Night, featuring rising stars such as the Guglielmo Santimone Trio and Treetops, ready to revolutionize the scene with innovative sounds.
The final encounter between tradition and the avant-garde features the duduk of Canberk Ulaş, blending Anatolian melodies with electronic extensions: Saturday, November 23 at 6 PM at the Auditorium Lo Squero.
