The sustainable fashion of the two emerging brands Imama Project and Poethica will be on show for Venice Fashion Week 2018 at Ca’ Sagredo Hotel in Venice.
Imama and Poethica testify the green revolution taking place in the fashion sectors for a new circular economy, both pioneers for an ethical fashion created by ‘happy’ people, using artisanal techniques and innovative and cruelty free fabrics for the future of the planet.
The Imama and Poethica fashion show is on Thursday, October 25th at 7pm by the Hotel Ca’ Sagredo
Imama Project clothes narrate people’s life stories
Imama Project is a non-profit fashion brand that supports social projects thanks to its proceeds. The production of the Imama brand’s items does not take place in one single manufacturing location but in different production units.
The production is outsourced to social cooperatives, tailor-made laboratories, ateliers in Italy and abroad to support people who live in situations of misery and marginalization. In this way, the company income funds personal initiatives of entrepreneurship aimed at improving the living conditions in the different demographic areas.
For Venice Fashion Week, the brand has created a clothing range that tells about life stories and opportunities. The fabrics – mainly made in Guinean ateliers and in social cooperative tailor’s shops – are those of Stefania Pochesci; they are designed envisioning worlds infused with love, happiness and the chirping of birds. The wax fabrics, with their colours and their tradition, reminds us of the African origins of the brand.
Poethica. Made Kindly. A sustainable fashion project for the planet
Poethica was born to inspire a sustainable lifestyle that can be both precious and desirable as it is ethical and created with kindness. It is a sustainability project that spreads out to consumers, workers and the entire planet.
The clothes and accessories are designed by a collective of designers that share Poethica’s values. The new production fibres and yarns come from the north of India, South America, South Africa and North Europe.
Poethica rediscovers and enhances ancient manufacturing techniques belonging to different cultures and at the same time it develops and introduces new solutions and materials, creating unique and timeless styles.
Its commitment is to limit unnecessary waste and cruelty on animals, giving a new life to unused fabrics, promoting the local and family micro-enterprise so to create an attentive and sustainable production cycle.
On Thursday, October 25th, we will be presented a few garments that anticipate the next debut collection, entitled Bohemian Echos and available from next year, in the Cruise Collections 2019. This was created with the use of fibres obtained from up-cycle processes, non-cruelty silk such as Ahimsa, Eri and Muga, Corn, Hemp, Linen, from organic cultivation and additionally, Lyocell®, Pinatex®, Vintage and dead-stock fabrics will give life to the bohemian elegance of Poethica. Made Kindly.
The students and professors of IED – European Institute of Design in Venice – took part in the project; they worked with enthusiasm on the packaging of a three-piece mini-capsule designed by Imama and Poethica to represent the synergy between the two brands.
The fashion show is organized by Maria Rebecca Ballestra
