Sustainable and Conscious Tourism at BIT, the International Tourism Exchange
The BIT International Tourism Exchange is one of the largest fairs in Italy dedicated to international tourism and the travel industry, where sector professionals meet to promote tourism products and services and disseminate best practices for conscious tourism.
The event takes place annually in Milan and brings together tour operators, travel agencies, representatives of tourist destinations, hotels, airlines, tourism service providers, and institutions to discover destinations from every corner of the planet, participate in workshops, conferences, and conduct business.
BIT 2023 presented an optimistic vision for tourism, which is growing again thanks to emphasis on themes such as sustainability and travel personalization amid market opportunities and challenges. The latest trends were presented, increasingly oriented toward the tech sector and the discovery of innovative and sustainable tourist destinations.
2023 in Venice
Venice was the protagonist of the meeting Creativity and Events Take Center Stage in Venice in 2023 at the Veneto Region stand organized by Vela Spa. The Tourism Councillor of the Municipality of Venice, Simone Venturini, presented the program of events and appointments that Venice will host in 2023.
Together with Piero Rosa Salva, Sole Director of Vela, and Michela Cafarchia, President of the Venezia e il Suo Lido Consortium, the Municipality of Venice presented the events of 2023.
The new year began with the first edition of Wine in Venice, the Red Carpet of Wine, which brought the excellence of wineries and wine producers to Venice from January 28 to 30.
Traditional celebrations such as the Festa della Sensa, the Festa del Redentore, the Regata Storica, Christmas, and events such as the Salone Nautico (from May 31 to June 4), regattas related to the world of sailing yachts (Regata Trieste Venezia – Two Cities One Sea, Veleziana, Venice Hospitality Challenge); the 18th International Architecture Exhibition (from May 20 to Sunday, November 26, 2023).
Music in Piazza San Marco features Laura Pausini (June 30, July 1 and 2) and Beethoven’s 9th Symphony performed by the Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice (July 8).
On July 7, Pinguini Tattici Nucleari will perform at Parco San Giuliano, bringing back after a long time a major musical event to the large green area overlooking the lagoon.
The 67th International Festival of Contemporary Music runs from October 16 to 29, 2023.
International cinema comes to the Lido di Venezia with the 80th International Film Festival organized by the Venice Biennale and directed by Alberto Barbera (August 30 – September 9).
Fashion takes center stage in Venice with the two appointments of Venice Fashion Week, the event dedicated to culture, design, and high craftsmanship, scheduled for spring (March 30 – April 2) and autumn (October 19-28, 2023), conceived and curated by Venezia da Vivere.
“If 2022 was the year of recovery for Venice, 2023 will be the year of quality and exclusivity,” declared Councillor Simone Venturini. “New Year’s and Carnival achieved significant numbers, especially for that segment of visitors who stay overnight in the city and wish to connect with it.
In the coming months, Venice will serve as an exceptional setting for international events spanning numerous fields of art, food and wine, fashion, and craftsmanship. Sectors in which the city boasts true excellence that permeates millennia-old traditions making it unique in the world. The Festa del Redentore, the Festa della Sensa, Carnival, and all other Venetian events are not only spectacular celebrations that remain etched in the hearts and minds of those who witness them, but constitute the very essence of a city that, after the pandemic, has returned to position itself at the center of the international scene.”
