Venice and the Sea
- Venice Boat Show Until June 2 Arsenale
The sixth edition of the Venice Boat Show begins on Thursday, May 29. In the spectacular Arsenale area, the event, which combines the sea with design and a look toward the future, brings 270 exhibitors, 300 vessels, 15 world premieres, and a focus on craftsmanship, maritime traditions, and electric, hybrid, and hydrogen propulsion.
A dense program of events, conferences, water trials, regattas, and educational and entertainment activities for all ages features initiatives such as the start of the Marina Militare Nastro Rosa Tour 2025, a regatta along the Italian coasts, and the 20th edition of the BOAT International World Superyacht Awards, which honors excellence in luxury yacht construction.
Venice Climate Week

The first edition of Venice Climate Week: a week of meetings, debates, and projects dedicated to climate change, sustainability, and new models of regenerative economy. Conceived by Riccardo Luna with the Future Food Institute, it involves institutions, businesses, researchers, and citizens.
On Tuesday, June 3, Sanlorenzo inaugurates Casa Sanlorenzo, a new cultural hub restored by Piero Lissoni in a historic palace near the Basilica della Salute. For the event, it will host the Sanlorenzo Talks, a series of appointments dedicated to the ecological transition and sustainable innovation.

Venice renews its millennial bond with the sea with the Festa della Sensa 2025. The water procession departs from St. Mark’s and reaches San Nicolò del Lido, where the Marriage of the Sea takes place with the ring ceremony and the ritual formula Desponsamus te, mare.
The day opens with the Regate de la Sensa—youth on pupparini, women on mascarete, and men on gondolas—and continues with the Adriatic Twinning ceremony at the Loggetta of the Doge’s Palace, a performance by the Serenissima Choir, and Mass at the Church of San Nicolò.
Vogalonga

Lagoon, Grand Canal, and St. Mark’s Basin
Eight thousand rowers from all over the world, over two thousand boats, and a single 30 km rowing route: the Vogalonga returns, featuring the poster for the 49th edition by Andrea Longhi.
Departure and arrival in St. Mark’s Basin, crossing the northern lagoon, the islands, the internal canals, and the Grand Canal in a non-competitive marathon designed to celebrate rowing, the environment, and Venetian culture.
Principality of Monaco Trophy – Vintage Sails in the Lagoon

Historic sails from all over Europe return to ply the lagoon for the 12th edition of the Principality of Monaco Trophy, which celebrates classic sailing culture and naval craftsmanship, central elements of the Venetian maritime tradition.
Three days of regattas, meetings, and exchanges between owners, sailors, and enthusiasts who will be in the city for the most important appointment on Sunday, June 29, with the parade of vintage boats in St. Mark’s Basin.

Four days of study on Giacomo Casanova, three hundred years after his birth. The international symposium, organized by the Giorgio Cini Foundation and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice, brings together forty European scholars between the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore and Ca’ Dolfin to present new research on the most debated Venetian of the 18th century.
A Sea of Jade

The company O Thiasos TeatroNatura, directed by Sista Bramini, brings A Sea of Jade to Venice, a theatrical narration inspired by the Oriental novella How Wang-Fô Was Saved by Marguerite Yourcenar.
The event, promoted by the Venice Gardens Foundation, takes place at the Redentore Garden, recently restored and returned to the citizens as a space of historical and cultural value. The event is part of a program promoting initiatives that combine art, nature, and spirituality.

The island’s small church, nestled in a park of centuries-old olive trees, will host the presentation of the new collaboration between fashion designers Giulia Bevilacqua and Antonino Valenti. A special open day to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of the museum’s opening, with works and objects from the Fortuny collection exceptionally displayed in the permanent exhibition: pieces normally not visible due to their fragility, some for the very first time.
In the morning (12 PM), the press presentation of the lecture series Eternity and Impermanence: Sign, Trace, and Archetype in the Work of Mariano and Henriette Fortuny, scheduled between autumn 2025 and spring 2026, on the sixtieth anniversary of the passing of Henriette Negrin, whose donation to the city founded the museum.
Throughout the day, screenings of vintage films from the collection accompanied by live musical improvisations. And from 6:30 PM, live music in Campo San Beneto.
Art Night Venice 2025

Over one hundred art venues exceptionally open their doors in the evening for the fourteenth edition of Art Night Venice. Museums, galleries, theaters, foundations, and libraries are part of a public itinerary featuring exhibitions, concerts, performances, screenings, guided tours, and workshops.
Conceived and coordinated by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice in collaboration with the City of Venice, the initiative takes place in conjunction with the summer solstice and begins in the courtyard of Ca’ Foscari (starting at 6:00 PM), where official materials for the evening will be distributed.

The Biennale Architettura 2025 – Arsenale, Giardini, and Venice
The 19th Biennale Architettura, directed by Carlo Ratti, explores building in an unstable world, amidst flooded landscapes, mobile platforms, and a fragile planet. The Italian Pavilion, curated by Fosbury Architecture, presents 10 projects on the margins of the Peninsula. 11 Collateral Events offer alternative perspectives: from the Saudi musalla to the Skywalk over the lagoon, to the architecture of bees. From Bahrain to Brazil, from Great Britain to Japan, the pavilions question the present through climate, resources, and migration.
- 53rd Biennale Teatro 2025: Theatre is Body – Body is Poetry

Willem Dafoe leads the new edition of the Biennale Teatro with a vision built around the actor’s body, its presence as a tool for relationship, and the stage as a physical and shared space. The chosen title defines the horizon of a program that alternates international productions, workshops, meetings, performances, and works by emerging artists.
The Herds: ABOVE A BRIDGE, UNDER AN ARCH

A public work for the climate crosses cities and territories from Congo to Norway and stops in Venice, as a preview of the 19th International Festival of Contemporary Dance, directed by Wayne McGregor.
The Herds is a traveling artistic project that denounces the impact of the climate crisis on ecosystems: a symbolic migration of life-sized herds—environmental sculptures made from recycled materials—marching for 20,000 km from Kinshasa to the far north of Europe, bringing the image of wildlife forced to flee into cities.
In Venice, the encounter with Biennale College Danza becomes a performance: sixteen dancers and two choreographers, selected from hundreds of international candidates, will be the protagonists of an intervention created specifically by Anthony Matsena, a choreographer and performer active in the British hip-hop scene.

Ten days of music, words, and visions: Venezia Suona Festival returns, curated by Il Suono Improvviso with the support of the City of Venice. The Parco Ex-Umberto I in Cannaregio welcomes some of the most interesting artists, bands, and projects from the Venetian and national scene, in a calendar that alternates concerts, stand-up comedy, DJ sets, and workshops.

The Venezia Jazz Festival opens its 17th edition with the unprecedented encounter between the piano of Stefano Bollani and the percussion of Trilok Gurtu.
On stage, two of the most important performers on the contemporary scene: Bollani brings his flair for improvisation, irony, and the fusion of eras, styles, and languages; Gurtu combines India’s musical heritage with international experiences spanning jazz, electronics, and African and Brazilian sounds.
