Venice Fashion Week 2018
Until October 27th
Thursday 18th October Apart – Preserve – Innovate, Daniela Giacometti’s fashion design project at the Hotel Londra Palace opened the Venice Fashion Week 2018. A modern style collection that aims at the recovery and preservation of the precious Venetian craft and artistic heritage.
In the afternoon cocktails and workshops in Calle Longa with La mise-en-scène. Stefania Giannici from the atelier Paperoowl has unveiled the secret world of paper and created a workshop to discover the comb decoration, one of the most ancient Venetian decorative techniques.
All the magic of flowers and their various combinations were at the Bottega 2137, a world made of colours and perfumes.
For the Fabiana Filippi fashion show at the Hotel Salute Palace, a triumph of white roses welcomed the guests for the presentation of the White Label and Black Label collection, the collection made with noble fibres such as cashmere and silk. A balance between simplicity and elegance.
Get dressed, let’s go out. Friday 19th October T Fondaco dei Tedeschi hosted the catwalk of Banco Lotto n10, the tailoring workshop located inside the Venice Women’s House of Detention. Hand-cut dresses finished with precision and made with high quality fabrics, contemporary lines and an eclectic style. It is a project of a high social value that promotes professional reintegration through sartorial competencies.
Demis Marin, designer of Nuovi Laboratori, presented at the Hotel Savoia & Jolanda a small men’s capsule inspired to the great historical novels and to the contemporary homeless, together with the metal jewellery exhibition of MyZizi Jewels and Paola Garzara’s leather bags.
Saturday 20th October we were in Piazza San Marco for a drink at the Caffè Todaro together with some of the Venice Fashion Week’s designers. Women, fabrics and visions with Giulia Houston and Progetto Quid; Caterina Giraldi of Veraroad and Giulia Bevilacqua of BVL Venezia.
In the afternoon the Fashion Pyjama Party brought Veraroad silk clothes to Palazzo Marin; a brand to be worn 24 hours a day. Pyjamas, kimono and petticoats, flowers and light patterns combined with the furnishing and precious lace accessories of Atelier Martina Vidal in Burano.
On Sunday afternoon the V3 brand organised a film set at Palazzo Marin to shoot videos of the new collection’s bags.
Research, innovation and creativity for the Radical Fashion garments of the Ivo Milan boutique in Padua. Orlando Milan and his team brought to Palazzo Marin the clothes of the historical protagonists of fashion, a reflection of the contamination and great cultural and economic transformations; and a successful collaboration with the unique glasses of the Micromega brand of Venice.
We toasted with the Opere Serenissima wines of Villa Sandi and tasted the delights of Pasticceria Giotto.
