Sustainability lights up the Venice Film Festival red carpet with the green dress A Dress For Venice
The greenest dress on the 2023 Venice Film Festival red carpet. This is how newspapers described the dress worn by Margot Sikabonyi on the festival’s red carpet.
It is a sustainable dress crafted with tailoring techniques in biodegradable Bemberg™ fabric and enriched with antique Burano lace, created to raise awareness about the urgency of sustainable fashion and the value of craftsmanship.
The dress was designed by conscious designer Tiziano Guardini with illustrations by artist Jacopo Ascari and made of Bemberg™, a next-generation biodegradable fiber produced exclusively in Japan by Asahi Kasei.

The project was presented during a press conference at the Spazio della Regione del Veneto by Elena Donazzan, Regional Councilor for Education, Training, Labor, and Equal Opportunities, Laura Scarpa and Lorenzo Cinotti of Veneziadavivere. Also present was Ermelinda Damiano, President of the Venice City Council.
The A Dress For Venice project is an entire sustainable collection produced by Martina Vidal Venezia, which has been producing Burano lace for four generations. The collection is created in partnership with a supply chain of companies identified by the Tavolo Veneto della Moda, including Neris Beniamina Zecchin, National and Regional President of Tailors and Stylists for Confartigianato and member of the Accademia Nazionale dei Sartori.
The project is supported by the global platform C.L.A.S.S. (Creativity Lifestyle and Sustainable Synergy) and benefits from the partnership of Camera Buyer Italia and the media partnership of The Italian Rêve.
The entire capsule collection of the third edition of A Dress for Venice will be presented on Friday, October 20, at Venice Fashion Week, the event dedicated to tailoring, craftsmanship, and sustainable fashion, which celebrates its 10th anniversary this year and will take place in Venice from October 19 to 28, 2023.
The A Dress For Venice project was conceived by Venezia da Vivere in 2019 to celebrate 1,600 years of Venetian craftsmanship.
A Dress for Venice is under the patronage of the City of Venice, the Veneto Region, the Tavolo Veneto della Moda, and Homo Faber – Fondazione Cologni dei Mestieri d’Arte, which promotes fine craftsmanship and savoir-faire worldwide.
