Sartorial, creative, sustainable, artisanal, and made-to-measure: this is fashion in Venice at Venice Fashion Week Spring
Venice Fashion Week is the event organized by Venezia da Vivere that celebrates and promotes emerging talent and Venetian craftsmanship. From Wednesday, March 23 to Saturday, March 26, 2022: fashion shows, cocktails, exhibitions, and meetings.
The future is artisanal: under the patronage of the City of Venice and Homo Faber, and dedicated to craftsmanship, sustainability, and haute couture, Venice Fashion Week is a contemporary narrative of the métier d’art.
The promotion of emerging talent, partnerships between Venetian craftsmanship and contemporary designers, the renewed interest in tailoring and made-to-measure within the luxury market, and the commitment to bringing the international debate on sustainable fashion to Venice are the core themes of the event.
Venice Fashion Week celebrates the 1600th anniversary of Venice with events dedicated to the creative women of Venice, a collection and an exhibition featuring Burano Lace, sartorial collection runway shows, and the presentation of the #VeniceFashionPeople network of fashion and craft creatives.
The Program
Wednesday, March 23
At 12 PM, the opening of Venice Fashion Week 2022 – Spring Edition will take place in the Music Room of Palazzo Sagredo with a meeting between fashion designers and experts in craftsmanship and sustainable fashion.
Henriette Fortuny
On Wednesday, March 23 at 7:30 PM, the first fashion show of Venice Fashion Week takes place on the historic Terrace of the Hotel Bonvecchiati, presenting the brand Mine de Rien. The evening wear collection by Francesca Venuti brings handmade pleating into the future with unique volumes and geometries, and is dedicated to the woman who designed the Delphos gown: Henriette Nigrin, wife and muse of Mariano Fortuny. The lives and creations of these artists, who chose Venice as their place to live and create, are masterfully narrated in their home, the Palazzo Fortuny Museum.
The evening will continue with the designers, creatives, and people working in Venice in the fields of fashion, design, and craftsmanship: the #VeniceFashionPeople.
Thursday, March 24
At 6:30 PM, Venice Fashion Week is at the Boutique Hotel Corte di Gabriela, a 19th-century Venetian palace, with two fashion shows: the haute couture of Fosca Parisi and Luna Pesce, designers of the brand Atelier23, and MyssDuval, the first sartorial collection by the very young Marina Amicucci.
The evening continues with fashion and music at the Terrazza Aperol in Campo Santo Stefano, a new space blending sustainable design and conviviality.
Friday, March 25
At 6:30 PM, Palazzo Sagredo presents a Venezia da Vivere project that combines contemporary design with high craftsmanship: Being Luisa is the collection created by Finnish designer Jasmin Santanen and Atelier Martina Vidal, guardian of the art of Burano Lace.
The project is under the patronage of the Embassy of Finland in Italy and lays the foundation for a collaboration on the themes of fashion, craftsmanship, and sustainability.
Luisa Casati
Dedicated to Marchesa Luisa Casati, the archetype of a free and creative woman, the collection will be on display from Saturday, March 26 until April 5 at the Magazzino Gallery of Palazzo Polignac. The exhibition opening is at 6 PM.
Haute couture and sustainability
The major event in April 2022 dedicated to craftsmanship, Homo Faber, features Japan as the guest of honor this year. With a meeting that explores the connection between Venice, craftsmanship, and sustainable fashion, Venezia da Vivere and Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua present A Dress for Venice: an exhibition of six kimonos made with fabrics from the Bevilacqua archive. These are works of art, craftsmanship, and haute couture created by eco-designer Tiziano Guardini with designs by artist Luigi R. Ciuffreda.
Part of the Homo Faber in Città program, the exhibition will be open to visitors from April 10 to 29 in the historic spaces of Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua on the Grand Canal, among original 18th-century Jacquard looms and machinery.
Luciana Boccardi
Venice Fashion Week 2022 Spring celebrates Luciana Boccardi, the unforgettable fashion journalist and writer, who was committed to promoting Venice as a city of haute couture.
