Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa

Tomorrow Now: critics, curators, professionals and experts in the art and new media sector focussing on key aspects of artistic production and of new digital technologies. Maria Grazia Mattei and Stefano Coletto launched this project dealing with the way digital technology influences every aspect of every-day life, like the development of contemporary art. It acts as an observatory promoting and supporting new creative ideas related to new technologies.
The main goal is to create a community of people participating, discussing and exchanging opinions and experience.
The Bevilacqua La Masa Foundation was created in 1898 by Felicita Bevilacqua, widow of General La Masa: she left the City of Venice, Ca’ Pesaro, the family palace on the Grand Canal, on condition that it was turned into a space for the artistic life of the city. Its main goal is to provide a space, in particular for young artists’ researches. As a matter of fact, from the beginning of its activity, the Foundation became a reference and the starting point for very young artists like Boccioni, Casorati, Semeghini, Gino Rossi and Arturo Martini.
The BLM now has two exhibition spaces: Saint Mark’s Square and Palazzetto Tito in Campo San Barnaba, in the heart of Venice’s university area.
In addition to large-scale exhibitions on international artists, BLM also hosts meetings and conferences on contemporary art, exhibitions on young emerging artists (assigning grants to the most talented) and cooperates with universities, academies, exhibition spaces and other Italian and foreign institutions.
