The spotlight will be on emerging designers and artisans thanks to the Venice Fashion Week: from 22nd to 31st October 2020 Venice will become an Open Atelier: events, cocktail parties, fashion shows and open ateliers will take place all around the city.
Venice will be once again an open atelier for events and fashion during the Venice Fashion Week from 22nd to 31st October 2020. Ten days dedicated to sustainable fashion, talent, and craftsmanship. A calendar of events, cocktail parties and fashion shows inside Venetian palaces, tailor’s shops, and ateliers. These will present designers and artisans and put the spotlight on the extraordinary creative ferment of the city and its territory.
Venice is an Open Atelier
Venice was entirely made by craftsmen, and at every step you can see and touch the work of the artists of the past. The opening of the Fashion Week is dedicated to those who bring this art into the future: tailors, stylists, goldsmiths, designers, impiraresse, perfumers, glassmakers, decorators, shoemakers, printers, ceramists, paper craftsmen, florists and graphic designers: from October 23rd to 25th workshops and ateliers will open their doors for free visits, by appointment, to offer the public the opportunity to meet the craftsmen at work and show that Venice is alive, creative and productive.
The Venetians of Fashion
At its tenth edition, Venice Fashion Week will celebrate three great Venetians:
Luciana Boccardi is a Venetian journalist and one of the most important fashion experts in Italy; with her green eyes and her lashing pen she has witnessed the evolution of the Italian fashion and its main interpreters from the beginning of the pret-à-porter to the latest digital fashion of the 2020. She still collaborates with the Gazzettino, and she has created the column Modi & Moda, a blog of Author’s pages for the gazzettino.it. In an appointment with the public, her latest book will be presented: Burlesque – Dizionario surreale (ed. La Musa Talia), introduced by Arrigo Cipriani.
Franco Puppato, the great Venetian tailor who has dressed divas and royalty, has just received the Arbiter prize, the Italian Oscar for Tailoring. In an event-show the Maestro will take us to his tailor’s shop and narrate his life in fashion.
Stefano Nicolao, a master creator of historical costumes for the theatre and the cinema, on Thursday 29th October at Ca’ Sagredo, will tell us about his career from Cinecittà to Hollywood and to the most important theatres in the world, with a fashion show and an exhibition that retrace the history of Venice “Venetians Reflections“.
