How do you envision the future of Venice? The open debate that Venezia da Vivere and Associazione Piazza San Marco have created for the rebirth of the city continues.
The debate for the rebirth of the city continues with new contributions and Five new interviews for #RewritingtheFuture, the open debate launched by Venezia da Vivere and Associazione Piazza San Marco.
This week we interviewed Mattia Berto, director, actor, and artistic director of Teatro di Villa Groggia; Luciano Gambaro, President of Consorzio Promovetro di Murano; Fabio Moretti, President of the Academy of Fine Arts; Emma Ursich, Secretary General of The Human Safety Net by Generali; Guido Zucconi, architectural historian at IUAV University.
From alternatives to tourism monoculture and ideas to protect craftsmanship to tax relief for businesses, from urban regeneration to Venice as the world capital of sustainability, here are some excerpts from the interviews:
Mattia Berto: “I like to imagine Venice as the protagonist of a contemporary renaissance, a city that takes on the challenge of becoming an experiment in urban and human regeneration.”
Luciano Gambaro: “Murano Glass can be a concrete answer to tourism monoculture: we can ensure the protection of a historical heritage and give impetus to residency by transforming Murano into a laboratory of artistic and cultural enhancement on an international scale.”
Fabio Moretti: “Revival of quality craftsmanship, expansion of the student and faculty population, tax relief for business activities.”
Emma Ursich: “Venice can be a model synthesis between international connection and quality of life, attractive also to new generations, different from megalopolis standards, a new idea of ‘smart city’.”
Guido Zucconi: “Regulate flows in a rational and planned manner, not with unrealistic barriers, turnstiles, barbed wire, but with an incentive policy.”
